i kept poking because i’m like “surely this series of events involving a trans woman must have turned this guy into a monster? you know, the ol’ adam jentleson shuffle?” and…not that i can easily tell? he and his wife now make stuffed animals with marginal identities & disabilities?

Q: Plushie Dreadfuls tackles themes that many brands avoid: mental illness, chronic conditions, and marginalized identities. What motivated you to take this bold approach, and how has the response from your community shaped the brand?

American: When I was in high school, my mother married a transgender woman, and I witnessed a vicious hate attack against her that left her hospitalized for two weeks and absolutely shattered my mother, me, and my family. Watching someone I loved endure that kind of bigotry cemented my hatred of prejudice in all forms. Those experiences forged in me an indelible empathy for any marginalized group and fierce anti-bullying stance.

As I was standing by this gas pump filling up my truck with six dollar gas I couldn’t help but think that this was a small price to pay so that every child wanting to play sports in elementary school has to submit to mandatory genital inspections

My jeep with a gas pump in her fuel filler $94.59 at 5.999/gal

Something you can materially do for your trans friends: hire them Basically every gig I've landed in the last 5+ years has been directly the result of a cis friend doing me a solid... and all the interviews and applications with strangers, even with solid word-of-mouth colleague recs? Nah

The thing liberals fundamentally don't understand is that trans people are losing rights they already had. We're not asking for more, we're asking not to lose what we already had for decades. Most sports leagues and the Olympics had inclusion criteria for decades without issue.

Screenshot of an X (formerly Twitter) exchange discussing political pragmatism and the Overton window.
The initial post by onion person (@CantEverDie) reads:
> "doesn't matter, this is about what the right is able to push with the overton window. first its democrats needing to disavow trans women in sports to get elected, next it'll be agreeing to ban access to HRT to get elected. we've seen how this plays out"
>
A reply from Nick Pappas (@NickAPappas) reads:
> "Are you insane? The Overton window didn’t even include this discussion until recently. The public has never been in favor of desegregating the sports by sex.
> Personally I’m glad Barack Obama ran against gay marriage in 2008. Not because that was the right position, or one he even actually held, but because he knew the public wasn’t with him on it. If he hadn’t won he wouldn’t have been able to appoint 2 of the justices who ultimately voted in the majority for Obergefell.
> Lincoln in 1860 didn’t even run on abolishing slavery! He just wanted to stop its expansion. And thankfully he did that and won because a more extreme and morally correct position would have lost. As a result he was able to win the Civil War and push through the 13 amendment.
> Political practicality is the entire history of progress in America. There’s no other way."

over a month ago, my Venmo got suspended with no explanation but I was told to send in identity verification to get that fixed. no response until today when I got this email telling me (again w no explanation) that my account is permanently shut down? I'm so confused & annoyed

my personal feeling on this is the reason the "I Don't Want To Look Or Be Cis" shirts start with "I" instead of saying "Don't Look Or Be Cis" as a blanket. things that (whether intentionally or not) imply a homogeneous trans experience just don't feel productive to me

shit like this is what i mean, right? like this kind of attitude is weirdly pervasive in a lot of queer spaces, and it truly feels like the creator Fucking Forgot bottom surgery exists

its really odd to me how, in most/all circles ive existed in (even extreemly progressive/transgender spaces!), people have acted like one's genitals are immutable and cannot change, and that trans women fundamentally have penises

it's curious to me to see people saying that Camp Miasma is made for trans women when one of the biggest choices it makes is specifically transforming the fraught transfeminine genre body into a sublimated genderfluid roleplay identity. nothing wrong w that, but interesting difference in response

Lotta people are understandably having a lot of feelings about this. Just one gentle nudge: if you see someone saying he can't end trans people, there's no need to remind them that he can try. They know he can try. Just let people have a little defiance in the face of obliteration. As a treat.

Someday soon hes going to be over and trans folk will continue to exist and, hopefully, thrive, for as long as there are humans on this planet.
