New puppy friend Odin! (This was the least blurry photo I could get of him head-on.) (For legal purposes, not my pup.)
Story collection: queer disabled folktale and fairytale retellings in funky forms. Novel: Three women. One fucked-up medical industrial complex to set ablaze.

I would add Tea Gerbeza's How I Bend into More!
after a mostly offline summer, I made a big old post exploring what I think of when I think of disabled/ Deaf poetry in a big anti-canon, for the Sealey challenge (kind of) here: llps.substack.com/p/sealey-cha... what would you add?

To add to this: ultimately, the project of eugenics always returns to regulating humanity, homogenizing us until we are each useful, predictable tools that can produce (labor, children, etc.) for the rich and powerful.
Going after autistic/ADHD kids next after trans kids makes all the sense in the world, because the larger global fascist project is making sure your children-property do and be whatever their parent-owners want. You can "fix" your broken toy rather than deal with the reality of another person.
This literally sounds like a robot delivering a villain speech.
I don’t want to be too sensationalist about this but also I’m the least violent person in the world and I think if someone said this to my face I’d hit them
"I was gonna read, you know." Me to the cat, who has claimed my arm for herself
Remember your art cannot be universally acceptable AND a strong, unique point of view. Mayonnaise can be found just about everywhere, it's not exactly a bold statement.
Explaining to other members of the queer community that fundamentalists won't stop at stripping trans rights always feels like Merry explaining to Pippin that the fires of Isengard will spread, even to The Shire. All that was once green and good in this world will be gone.

This kind of rhetoric relies on old eugenics tropes. It's a hop and a skip from "the people we don't like are deformed" to "the people we don't like don't belong in public." And there's already a push toward more institutionalization (see the US DOJ opinion issued on June 18th, 2026).
Miller: "It's not a coincidence that when you look at these violent Antifa demonstrations not one of the people that is demonstrating looks like a normal person. Not one looks normal. They're all deformed in some way in their appearance, in their dress, in their mannerism." #cdnpoli

I'm excited to share this new project with y'all! I've been researching eugenics with a Disability Studies lens, analyzing how it shows up in literature, as well as in the broader culture. Sharing with friends and colleagues is much appreciated!

Multimorbid’s oftentimes darkly comic take on disability leaves everyone complicit and a little bit scarred—care teams lost in the red tape of their own ‘efficiency’; friends and patients alike, trying and failing, and doing their best. Multimorbid Rebecca Wood kithbooks.com/shop/p/multimorbid

I've been in the trenches researching/writing about eugenics in literature and culture for a Youtube series I'm putting together. This "women need to marry young" line of thinking is something that Francis Galton, the man who coined the term "eugenics," was complaining about way back in 1901.
Her "model" for "ending the fertility crisis" is for women to marry young while they're most fertile. OK, except there's still a decent chunk of people who would deal with infertility even then. My wife and I were in our mid-20s when we started having this struggle. In her world, we don't count.
Currently curled up in bed with the cat as we try to ignore the fireworks that are, for some ungodly reason, directly outside our window.
