Because it apparently needs to be said: I have never fucking used the AI/LLM/chatbot/plagiarism machine and I never fucking will. If you use it, I think you're a bad person.

Also know this advice should be used sparingly and wisely. Don't get yourself fired before you have the exit plan. 😉 DO NOT TELL YOU PRINCIPAL TO "TRY JESUS. Don't TRY ME" YOU ARE A GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEE. 🤣
If you love what you do, schools will do everything they can to overwhelm you and burn you out. Assert yourself and your boundries. Labeling you as lazy or uncooperative is a manipulation technique they use on new teachers looking to prove themselves. Tell 'em to try Jesus & protect your peace.
Oh, and while you read to them, stop to comment, add context /vocabulary and ask questions. "OMG! That's deep. What would you do if you teacher was mean like Mrs. Gorf?"
Kepp a library of books that match your student's interest. Of you are working with Pre-k - 5, read to them after lunch everyday. The older kids might like that too. (Do the voices, you coward!)
This sister said, "Maps Not Monuments" Don't teach just them about George Washington Carver. Have them replicate one of his experiments. (Not peanut butter. That wasn't him and you'll problably have to use that epipen)
When teaching history, avoid focusing on individuals. Focus on methods, structures, and connections. Don't teach about Rosa Parks. Teach how they organized protests and transportation during the boycott.
I know new teachers are getting a lot of advice. So I'm going to give you some that you problably have not heard. 20 years experience says: The kid in your class that's giving u the most problems? Their parent is fawyn. Don't let that shake you. Be professional. Tell the truth.
Denying me a job because a program told you I sound too much like the program that steals from me every damn day? Super villain origin. The next time you see me I'm showing up at the Super Bowl with a bald head and face mask like Bane.
How am I the NeuroSpicy whisperer where ever I go? coworker: He doesn't want to go to the Mirror Maze b/c he might get lost. Me: Here's a pen. Tell him if he sees a Mirror Vampire to give them a mustache. I trust his judgement. Coworker later: OMG, that worked! Yeah. Game recognize Game. 🐿️

We’re also funding death squads but what’s really offensive is that somewhere out there a poor person might be able to eat
Opinion: Mamdani's idea may sound appealing, but it's NYC taxpayers who will take the hit, subsidizing discounts they may never even use.
This thread being brought to you by me, working in a place where I see children who are capable of better behaviour just being little jerks to people who obviously love them very much.
We can be hard on our parents and, abuse behaviour aside, we forget we are expecting a 25 year old to have a good solution to dealing with an unreasonable person.
It wasn't until I had my own teenagers that I bought to my parents dinner and apologized. Don't wait that long. You Remeber them cussin you out. you dont remember it was b/c you intentionally put holes in the couch they'd been saving up for/paying off. Just give them a sorry and I love you 😘

The best day to write a review of my book for a major publication was two months ago. The second best day is tomorrow.

I Remeber when Dove (P&G) had this ad campaign about finding beauty in all body types and colors. And then had a commercial trying to make women self-conscious about the quality of skin on their arm pits.

"Pull a standard U.S. history textbook off the shelf and you’re unlikely to find more than a paragraph on the 1919 riots; what you do find downplays both racism and Black resistance, while distorting facts in a dangerous 'both sides' framing." Read more ⬇️ www.zinnedproject.org/if-we-knew-o...

I think today's liberals in the US are used to a social environment where pogroms are rare and don't realize the role armed self defense plays in that state of affairs www.history.com/articles/red...

Who is this for? As a ES & MS teacher, I can tell you that the kids who are into this and the kids who read books are two separate and intellectually distinct circles.
