I am very old, granted. But I'm a huge believer that many things should be dumb. My TV should be dumb (on/off/volume/input change). Everything in my kitchen should be dumb. My car should be dumb. I have a smart thing in my pocket at all times. I do not need anything else to be smart.

This sucks ass. When I start my car I want to be able to put my foot on the pedal and drive off. I dont want to watch an ad. A distracting ad. Right in the middle of my console. Again. This sucks ass.

The Pat McAfee show does about 1/50th of the ratings of the first season of Suddenly Susan. It's insane how much we have splintered in modern pop culture, but also insane how overinflated the popularity/influence of celebrity has become relative to how many people actually care what they say.

I read an interesting Reddit thread (I know) about how gaming seems to keep chasing this imaginary customer who like, loves RPGs but they are TOO COMPLICATED so let's water things down. And then the game fails because it lost its actual customer in the process. This feels like that

It sucks that ESPN is choosing to pay a small handful of personalities $50 million a year and cutting costs elsewhere. I’m sure they have data saying those guys move the needle but it feels like a long-term disaster to invest everything in 3-5 guys when you could fund a robust media ecosystem
