Palestinian trade unionists have long called on workers worldwide to refuse arms shipments to Israel. Dockworkers answered—from Belgium and Sweden to Italy. Now unions in six countries are organizing for October 30.

I know everyone is different, but as soon as I can feel the game designer's hand requiring cycles of repetitive gameplay loops that I've already done several times, I bounce out of the game. Playing 30-60 minutes just to see the possibility of a snippet of new story is not time well used for me.

I loved the weirdness of Titanium Court, but completely bounced off it at the point where I could see how many runs I needed to do in order to progress the story. I really dislike how roguelikes have taken to that style of game mechanic. I much prefer skill based gates instead of number based ones.

btw if the ESA or any of these studios wanted to put together an initiative to provide financial relief to laid off game workers, they have ~$60M in total assets that they could allocate towards one. They're welcome to reach out to me if they need info on how to set one up.

Tax filing data for the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), which shows a total revenue of 40.7M in 2025, and 59.3M in total assets in 2025.

Devs, pay attention to who is actually, practically offering support to our laid off colleagues. It’s not the companies, it’s not the ESA, it’s the union, it’s us.

Hi, we're a new video game oral histories site. Want to read the story of Shadow of the Colossus, as told by 11 people who worked on it? Or hear what Will Wright has to say about Spore in retrospect? Or see previously unreleased footage of Nintendo's Sound Fantasy? Check us out at designroom.site

A reminder that the absolute best thing you can do if you want to see more projects like this is to get involved and JOIN UVW. Money is great but volunteer time is infinitely more valuable and in short supply, plus you’ll meet amazing people and learn new things!
