Thanks to my Grouvee shelves, I can tell you in the last couple years I've borrowed 33 games from the library. Of those, I've purchased 14 (most being their more expensive versions), plan on getting 8 more, with the rest being a mix of "not for me" or needing to play more to know for sure.

With games specifically? There are a good dozen games just in the last couple years that I would never have bought without getting to try them from the library first. And there are another 3 or 4 that I still plan on getting.

Public Domain Art is the lifeblood of small tabletop rpgs, but it can be a nightmare trying to find the right art and license. This week, I’ve re-uploaded my old list from 2020 (with updates) of public domain websites. That's 500,000+ public domain paintings, photos, maps, and film. Link below 🔗👇

I think PlayStation and other anti-physical media types underestimate the power of libraries. They falsely see it as something that loses them money, when the reality is that it encourages people to not only buy the thing they enjoyed but to then buy even more from the same people. 🧵

Lost in all the chatter about Playstation wanting to end disc sales is the fact this is just another thing that will hurt libraries.

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful

Normally, I'd be sharing the Romance Book Lovers freebie blast, but, uhh, there are SO MANY AI covers. Like, did no one vet these? Is there no rule against AI books/covers from being included? I'm both disappointed and disgusted.

Obvious genAI slop plagiarism theftware barf, but I think the thing pro-slop CEOs will never truly understand is how much they botched ever getting creatives (not slop-generators, creatives) on board with anything touched by genAI by having it steal all our stuff to scam us for money we don’t have.
