I think this movie sounds stupid as Hell, but I would love it to every now and then cut away from whatever heteronormative nonsense is happening to a really unbothered asexual person just living their life without a care in the world.

Three years ago, the government passed a mandate stating sex should exclusively be shared between married couples with the exception of one night a year where pre-marital sex is legal and protection is required for 12 hours. All people get a tattoo at the age of 18 that is red when not able to have sex, but turns green when you are married or on the one night the mandate lifts. It blinks red if you go against the mandate (have sex anyway, have unprotected sex, etc.) and transmits your location to the law enforcement branch in charge of these crimes. There is a biological sensor inside that tracks dopamine and if your levels spike at the same time as someone you're physically near, it documents that as a sexual encounter. Masturbation is legal and it is implied that gay sex successfully operates outside of the mandate. There are multiple anti-mandate signs and events shown throughout the movie.

When asked about terminology related to attraction, over nine out of ten of aces were familiar with the terms “aesthetic attraction” (94.2%) and “platonic attraction” (91.4%). Around three out of four aces were familiar with the terms “emotional attraction” (79.6%), “intellectual attraction” (75.6%), “sensual attraction” (72.8%), and “queerplatonic attraction” (69.9%). Less than a third of aces were familiar with the term “alterous attraction” (30.5%). Among aces, 2.8% were not familiar with any of the terms, and 0.7% provided a write-in response.

Nearly nine out of ten aces who were familiar with aesthetic attraction indicated that they had experienced it themselves (87.2%). The same was true for over three quarters who were familiar with platonic attraction (80.2%) or emotional attraction (77.5%). Around two thirds of those who were familiar with intellectual attraction had experienced it (63.1%). Just over half who were familiar with the terms sensual attraction (53.8%), alterous attraction (53.0%), or queerplatonic attraction (50.2%) had experienced them.

Among aces, 8.7% selected at least one Asian or Pacific Islander racial/ethnic category. This included 5.3% of all aces selecting “East Asian (Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Taiwanese, Mongolian, etc.),” 1.9% selecting “Southeast Asian (Vietnamese, Cambodian, Malaysian, Laotian, etc.),” 1.8% selecting “South Asian (Indian, Pakistani, Sri Lankan, etc.),” and 0.1% selecting “Pacific Islander and/or Polynesian (Kanaka, Maoli, Māori, Samoan, etc.).”
A total of 3.0% of aces selected at least one Black racial/ethnic category, including 1.8% who selected “Black and/or of the African diaspora,” 0.9% who selected “Black: African,” and 0.8% who selected “Black: Caribbean.” Further, a total of 1.8% of aces selected at least one American Native racial/ethnic category, including 1.4% who selected “North American Native (Indigenous North American, Inuit, Métis, First Nations, etc.)” and 0.5% who selected “South or Central American Native (Quechua, Aymara, Chiquitano, Taíno, etc.).”
Finally, a total of 1.2% of aces selected at least one Middle Eastern or North African racial/ethnic category, including 1.0% who selected “Middle Eastern / West Asian (Arab, Armenian, Azerbaijani, Kurdish, Persian, Turk, etc.)” and 0.2% who selected “North African (Berber, Egyptian, Libyan, Nilo-Saharan, etc.).”

The majority of all respondents reported that they identified as “White or of European Descent,” including 83.0% of aces, 81.5% of those unsure if they were ace, and 87.0% of non- aces.
The second largest racial/ethnic category among aces and those unsure if they were ace was “Hispanic / Latino/a/e/x / Chicano/a/e/x,” selected by 7.4% of aces, 8.1% of those unsure if they were ace, and 5.8% of non-aces. In contrast, the second largest racial/ethnic category among non-aces was “Jewish (Ashkenazi, Sephardic, etc.)” (7.7%, compared to 4.4% of aces and 5.8% of those unsure if they were ace).
The third largest racial/ethnic category among aces and those unsure if they were ace was “Mixed Race / Multi-Racial.” Equal percentages of both aces and those unsure if they were ace selected “Mixed Race / Multi-Racial” (both 5.8%), compared to slightly fewer non-aces (3.9%).
