When you could end reality from your throne of primordial chaos, but you'd rather just take a nap and maybe eat some leaves later. Antifa cottagecore. She/her.

We couldn’t go to the pub because the prime minister was there? Would have given him a piece of my mind, but apparently the whole place was throbbing with Mounties

GM: Does anyone have any more questions for the sword before the Zone of Truth lapses? MONK: What’s your favorite color? SWORD: Blood red. MONK: Fresh or dried? SWORD: Fresh. BARD: So cliche. SWORD: I wouldn’t lecture anyone about color choices while wearing that hat.

It is brought home to me over and over that a cis woman could be harassed at work and live in terror of her husband, but few male politicians will give a good goddamn about her until she steps on a playing field with a trans woman. (The same trans woman whose couch she might end up on next month.)

There is nothing my guy wants more than a small ball of tinfoil. He likes it more if it’s off a chocolate bar. You’re nibbling a fererro rocher and a twelve-pound cat blinks into existence by your ankles, pupils blown, feral instincts raging.

Someone once told me that it's "classist" to advocate for people to have indoor cats because you need to buy them lots of expensive toys. Marcel has been playing with the discarded stem of a fresh green bean for 20 minutes. 🤷‍♀️

I swear to God, part of the problem of literacy is that we make kids read SO MANY books like this. Of course they’re going to associate reading with misery! We put them in a Skinner box and shock them when they read, what did people THINK would happen?

Having ranted about school curriculum books, I’ve just seen my son’s summer reading list, and all I can say is “I was right”. A more depressing collection would be tricky to assemble. Are we actively trying to convey to kids the idea that reading is dismal and arduous?

That said, let us take a moment to thank our Bluesky Trans and Furry Elders for freaking out Jack Dorsey so much he bolted and left us this nice social media playground, taking most of his crypto chuds with him. We thank you for your service.

I am going through Bram Stoker’s earliest notes on DRACULA today - they include a list of the powers and features of the Count (then named “Wampyr” before Stoker stumbled on “Dracula”), many of which are never elucidated in the book…

• panters cannot pant hım; looks like someone else (38b)
• insensitive to music (38b)
• despises death and the dead (38b)
. is affected only by relics that are older than he is (38b)
• can create evil thoughts in others, banish good ones, and destroy will (38b)
• cannot be photographed; photographs come out black or like a skeleton corpse (4, 38b)
• can tell if bodies are dead or alive (4)
• sees man semingly dead and says "no" (4)
• has to be brought or carried over threshold. Dracula visits an asylum where he stumbles on the threshold (4, 16)
• named "Count Wampyr" (1)
• can determine and prove if people are sane (24)

This is the same child who lost it at last week’s attempted screening of The Little Mermaid. The “Les Poisson” scene was too much horror for him, and he eventually tapped out, yelling “I don’t like carnivores!” I see tofu in my future.

Spouse pointed out to me that, while 5-yo likes his Transformers bristling with guns, he gets very upset if you pretend to fire them at any point. You will be insistently reminded that this is his AU where the Decepticons became good (except for Shockwave and the insecticons) and are friends.

It's a small thing, I know, but there really is a difference between "palate cleanser" and "palette cleanser," and also, while we are on the subject, "pallet cleanser," and it is worth making the distinction
