I'm Bayta! Professional enbee, amateur poster. I post about retro computers and games, the furry fandom, and assorted fandom bullshit. She/her, 32
I’ve been busy and writing for Time Extension with an article all about how retro games can really help you learn Japanese as well as a little bit of me leaning into my fondness for my life in Japan. I hope it inspires and is helpful if this reaches you. You can do it! 日本生活のことを思い浮ぶが恋しくなる (-_-;)
Want To Learn Japanese? Retro Games Are Your Friend
Working retail is wild because sometimes you'll just be ringing somebody up and out of nowhere they'll be like "I don't think we really went to the moon" Like okay. What do I even say to that.
Whoever had the idea to have Joker living in the shattered rotting husk of the world's fair as a metaphor for the better tomorrow promised but never delivered earned their paycheck that day
Mask of the Phantasm works with a lot: an origin story, a sweeping, doomed romance, an evolution of mob crime giving way to the chaotic nastiness of the Joker, and much more. That it manages to effectively thread each in its 76 minute run makes it a bit of a miracle. Batman's finest cinematic hour.
Hey alright :) That's another Famicom game officially out of the backlog! Dragon Quest 4 is technically next up on my list, but I don't know if I want to jump into another lengthy RPG so soon after Final Fantasy 3.
Am I a bad person if I use a map and walkthrough to play metroid?
Wait, people dislike Hook? What? Wasn't this, like, a universally decently liked movie?
my daughter is watching Hook and it's so magical to re-experience that from a child's perspective: the first time you realize a movie can absolutely suck shit
New bird art just dropped, trying on something new hehe! Still amazed with how lovely @pibbbou.bsky.social worked on this! Many thanks again!!!
I've never actually beaten a Final Fantasy game until just now! This was a fan translation of FF3 for the Famicom. The last dungeon, the Sylx Tower, was a little bit of a slog, but it was well worth it. This is an absolutely awesome game, *especially* considering the platform it released on.
A little talked about symptom of ADHD is Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria (RSD). This is an intense feeling that everyone hates you. RSD comes in waves, and does not require events to trigger it. You can be walking along with friends having a great time and suddenly you feel an outsider.
I know they say it comes in threes, but Peter Cullen too??? This week can go to hell. I know everyone else has already posted it, but "Be strong enough to be gentle" is such a good quote. Rest in peace.
Oh my god, not Tim Curry too. What a horrible couple days.
me: okay and if you punch that wall right there there's actually a hidden 1-up bet you didn't know that haha the caveman I found and unfroze for fun: crork think about change pronoun
I hope everyone going to Megaplex has a good time! Not sure yet if I regret skipping it this year lol
On the 20th of August 1983, Daicon IV was released. It was made by Daicon Film, a 12 man studio with the 3 founding members being Hideaki Anno, Hiroyuki Yamaga, and Takami Akai. The studio would later go on to become Gainax studios. Happy 43rd Anniversary 🎉
Over like two days or something this website has spawned an entire fully formed transgender Spiderman variant I fucking love this place so much
This is literally EXACTLY what it's like to work at a liquor store where policy requires us to ID everybody
