BacDive is the worldwide largest database for strain-level bacterial and archaeal information. Our mission is to mobilize, standardize, and integrate research data from diverse sources and make it freely accessible. bacdive.dsmz.de
📢 The BacDive summer release is online! What is new: 🔹 Updated information on strains available in the Jena Microbial Resource Collection (JMRC) 🦠 and a new JMRC Special Collection 🔹Recalculated BacteriaNet genome-based predictions 🧬 🖥 🔹Links to Enterobase 🧫 👉 bacdive.dsmz.de/news/41
Would you like to know how to best search BacDive for strains 🦠, browse through genomes 🧬, read API test results 🧪, or use the web services 🖥️? Check out the new BacDive documentation 📖✨ 🔗 hub.dsmz.de/wiki/bacdive...
📣BacDive API Update Version 2 for the BacDive API endpoints ⌨️ has been introduced due to changes in the structure of the Genome Sequences data. ‼️We recommend migrating as new data added in latest, and upcoming, releases is only available through the BacDive API v2! 👉 api.bacdive.dsmz.de

The 2025 #BacDive 🦠 release is now online. 🎉🥳 The database now contains information on more than 100,000 strains 🧫. For this update, new data provided by @leibniz-dsmz.bsky.social and information on type strains of newly described species from the #LPSN database were added.
Most microbial diversity is uncultured. metaTraits bridges the gap by combining culture-based trait data (@bacdive.bsky.social, @bvbrc.bsky.social, JGI/GOLD/IMG) with predictions for MAGs and genomes (SPIRE, proGenomes). All trait summaries come with provenance and links to their original data. 4/8
We're excited to release metaTraits.embl.de! 🦠 Interactively explore 140+ 𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗼𝘁𝘆𝗽𝗶𝗰 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘁𝘀, harmonized & integrated from culture-derived collections 🔬 & genome-based predictions 🧬 for >2M MAGs & genomes. Publication at NAR: doi.org/10.1093/nar/... @narjournal.bsky.social #microsky 🧵 1/8
