New @bloomberglaw.com article by Olivia Carville - TikTok experimented on users, putting 10% (about 15M people) in a "filter bubble" exposing them to repetitive content that the algorithm thought they wanted, but was toxic. If you want to know why these cases are going to be massive...

The entire purpose of the Bill of Rights is to protect the only true minority—the individual. It limits the government’s power to harm individuals. The entire Constitution is designed to limit the power of the government
That Trump was willing to imprison an American Olympic Athlete over a disgusting lie should scare the crap out of all Americans. 😡
The Trump family said they were “debanked” for political reasons after Jan. 6—and used that to justify going hard into crypto. Turns out Capital One flagged them for money laundering. And then Blanche wrote the memo shielding the Trump family from IRS audits? Hm.
Capital One says it closed Trump Organization’s accounts after anti-money-laundering review www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026...
This is a story about the President and several of his hand-picked appointees all committing crimes and blatantly lying to the public while stealing public funds and abusing the criminal justice system, but the NYTimes describes the situation like they're recapping a soap opera.
Another example of the problem with the fixation with Trump’s putative emotions: here a story about the Trump administration’s corruption, incompetence, and venality is framed as one about Trump’s “wrath.” www.nytimes.com/2026/08/01/u...
X views are a total mirage. Whatever Musk reports is certainly a lie. They won't let anyone study the platform for a reason: It's entirely fake; it's a billion Russian bots pretending to be your girlfriend.
The audience for pro-Trump content has fallen from its heights and, for some creators, has reached new lows, a New York Times analysis suggests. Views are dropping for many of President Trump’s greatest allies. nyti.ms/3TLV4TV
Football federations did more to stand up to Infantino and FIFA in a week than most Senate Republicans have stood up to Donald Trump in almost a decade.
I don't recall CBS being the megaphone for the administration to this extent, say, a year ago. They get a lot of these, um, 'scoops'

Nailed on the head. Well written and reasoned; it’s a shame the WHCA couldn’t figure this out themselves, and in time to avoid such an embarrassment.
Nobody does it better than @sulliview.bsky.social A must read on the shameful White House Correspondents Association open.substack.com/pub/margaret...
You know what’s sad? Americans deserve the truth about an elected official and not one republican will step out of line to tell the truth about Mitch McConnell. And it’s even sadder that there’s a damn line at all. I’m so tired of this god forsaken era we’re all being forced to live through.
“After months of insisting the dinner was worth reviving in the name of the First Amendment … the organization instead handed Trump a nationally televised platform to demean the very journalists it exists to represent,” @passantino.bsky.social writes. www.status.news/p/the-white-...
The White House Correspondents’ Disgrace
The WHCA sought to reconvene its annual dinner in celebration of press freedom. Instead, it handed Donald Trump a platform to attack the very journalists the organization exists to represent.

Part of an old Jewish (Hillel) saying goes, “If I am not for myself, who will be for me?” Last night, the most visible part of our national press corps showed they won’t stand up for each other. And they undermined not just themselves, but every local news reporter who must put up with far worse.
After remarking about her looks, Trump says to one of CNN’s most prominent journalists, “Smile Kaitlin. Just smile.” These journalists need to understand he’s trying to humiliate all of you. Not just Collins.
Today I made an unannounced visit to ICE’s facility in Scarborough, Maine. What I heard was unacceptable: no body cameras, no training, and no accountability. Johan Guerrero should be alive. Congress must act. Abolish ICE. End qualified immunity.
I fully believe that Mitch being secretly kept alive while brain dead was HIS OWN IDEA, but that he didn’t plan for an eventuality like this, or at least this one specifically. Otherwise, he’d have prepared statements for his aides to release that would serve as the “photo with today’s newspaper.”
Mitch McConnell's statement today on the passing of his colleague Lindsey Graham: . . . . . .
“Last spring, over 1000 FBI analysts were told to review and redact the Epstein Files. Sources confided that there were training videos instructing them on how to find, log, and redact Trump’s name. The FBI just sent me their response confirming the videos exist.” open.substack.com/pub/muellers...

After getting hit with tariffs for the imported board games he sells, Jonathan Silva decided to see if he could produce a version of his Monopoly game in the United States. This is what he learned.

The same man who will pardon you if you ransack the Capitol and smear your feces on its wall will throw you in jail if you wiggle your fingers in the water of the Reflecting Pool.
And literally none of his companies have done anything but decline and fail to generate even 1/50th the revenue to justify their "value." The richest man in history has gotten there basically with endless failed promises that in 2 years he'd harvest the raw wealth of the entire universe.
The trillionaire mark is just a milestone. Musk already had enough money to personally buy a whole company or single-handedly influence a presidential election. But we should consider what it means that one man has amassed so much wealth and power — and the speed at which he is doing so.
I've reported on Musk for around 8 years. I've co-authored a book on him. I don't think folks understand the rate of his wealth accumulation. Shortly after he helped elect Donald Trump in Nov 2024, his net worth was around $350 billion. That net worth has nearly tripled in less than two years.
