Someday soon, everyone will claim to have known this all along.
"A.i." is bullshit. "A.i." detection tools are bullshit. "A.i." in education is bullshit. "A.i." in the arts is bullshit. "A.i." in business and government is bullshit.
"The events of Ray Bradbury’s short story “There Will Come Soft Rains” occur today: August 4, 2026. Like so many dates in science fiction, this one probably seemed far away when it was chosen, but once it was finally upon us, it passed like all days." www.rogerebert.com/mzs/silhouet...

It has been clarifying, to say the least
some of us took the implicit premise of "vote blue no matter who," that after the primary majorities and margins are more important than intra-partisan factional disputes, pretty seriously and it increasingly looks like that group did not include a lot of the people yelling "vote blue no matter who"
This is the brand that wanted to charge you $18/month for heated seats. Stop buying their fucking cars.
This sucks ass. When I start my car I want to be able to put my foot on the pedal and drive off. I dont want to watch an ad. A distracting ad. Right in the middle of my console. Again. This sucks ass.
One of the things I love about Dropout is that I’d never expect something like this but making art I love more accessible is exactly what I’d try to do if I had the money
Let Sam explain how Dropout got The Don Hertzfeldt Collection... 🍌 @donhertzfeldtfilms.bsky.social
Not only are these fuckers taking credit for a man they tried to sabotage, they haven’t said word fucking one about Chicago’s massive drop in crime under a Democrat who is relentlessly dragging city Dems toward progressive ideas.
HUGE: Under Mayor Mamdani, New York City just recorded its safest first 7 months of a year in history—and its safest July ever. In July: Major crime dropped 13% Murder dropped 32% Robberies dropped 15% Vehicle thefts dropped 25% Democratic mayors are putting public safety first.
"I'm entitled to whatever I want whenever I want it for any reason and I don't care what satisfying these urges does to me or the world" well okay dude, seems like there's something deeper going on here, but that's just my take
I groaned when they did this. I liked when Superman and Lois did it with Action #1 though. Something about it just felt weird here, and I don’t quite know what it was.
I actually find it really jarring when superhero movies do this (even Raimi!) but they did it regardless, as though they just don't care about my feelings at all. *sob*
I’ve been stupidly stressed and imagine I will be for a while still, but I get to see Camp Miasma tonight with my fiancé.
I need yall to do this to Rahm, too. Not enough people do this to Rahm. I can’t overstate how badly he should have been out of a job after Mayor of Chicago and he kept getting jobs in politics
Ex-NYC Mayor Eric Adams traveled to Wisconsin Rapids to convince residents to allow a real estate developer to build a data center in their town. Boos quickly rained down.
"Nicole Russell is a columnist at USA TODAY and a mother of four who lives in Texas."
Opinion: Mamdani's idea may sound appealing, but it's NYC taxpayers who will take the hit, subsidizing discounts they may never even use.

What's the best three album run from a band? (the correct answer is Moving Pictures, Signals, and Grace Under Pressure by Rush, but I'm excited to learn second place)
God, am I gonna buy necromunda stuff I won’t be building or painting for months…
I wanna say Kirby, but I worry that the years and his influence would make it harder to recognize him. Sienkiewicz maybe? I can spot Sophie Campbell’s art a mile away. Zoe Thorogood, too.
Who has the most instantly recognizable art style in all of comics? Jason? Quitely? Moebius? Momoko? Who? Name anyone and tell us why 🎨
Computer? That’s gender. Science and engineering? That’s gender. This meme? Oh, you better believe that’s gender.
Every Gender Studies major deserves an apology for every joke made at their expense. People studied STEM because everything was science and engineering. People studied CompSci because everything was computers. People studied Gender because as it turns out, everything actually is Gender.
If you were cool like me and preordered, you might already have it!
It's out, Aug 3rd!! Stop!! Hibari-kun! Vol 2! Available directly from us, or from good bookstores across America!
the wnba alienating their core audience for the sake of people who wouldn’t watch a wnba game to save their child’s life is a bold gambit, to be sure
Like 90% of what I’d want to talk about re: Brand New Day is a spoiler because of Marvel/Sony making “who is Sadie Sink playing” a marketing gimmick.
On the subject of people I like doing shit with AI, can anyone tell me if that book Grant Morrison is kickstarting actually used AI for shit? The initial blurbs around it all said something like “from [thing] to AI” around magic and magical thinking, made me sigh and say “worry about this later”
This is disappointing but given how he’s talked about AI, it’s also not especially surprising. Would be interesting if he actually used this as a time to reevaluate shit, especially given that he seems to feel something like shame here, but I also wouldn’t hold my breath.
Omg not Hank Green using AI for research and calling to his “bad habit” 💀😭🤡
Well, it’s invoicing day, and since they’re really apparently not going to pay me for something I wrote for them two months ago, I guess today is the day to post about how @vulture.com fucks over its film freelancers. Long (sorry) thread, with receipts:
There are 118 feature films, plus galas, talks, podcast recordings, and more at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival. Our guide to the movies and events worth lining up for.
Apple charges people ~20% more than the Patreon list price and they keep the difference for themselves. They also hold the proceeds of iOS app sales for 75 days, making it impossible for creators to accurately predict earnings. They basically inserted themselves in order to rip *more* people off
Any of you using the ios version of Patreon to support me, switch to the browser version instead, cuz the apple fees have actually taken over 3000 usd from me in the course of a year
Real Genius has been one of my favorite movies for ages. There’s a moment when the man who lives in their closet asks “what would you use that for” with regard to a high-power laser that only runs for a short period of time before destroying its fuel source. What would you use THIS for?
"Tonight I typed just one sentence into Google Earth and put refugees near the Mexican border. Then I planted a nuclear plant in Iran. Then I put a fatal crash on a street in Amsterdam."
Everyone excited for Camp Miasma and Public Access Afterworld, I got a special Jane Schoenbrun production last night: a dream where the two of us tried to make it through the dinner rush working at a pizza place. My brain is weird.
Sorry we tried to stand up for trans people, we won’t do it again, Gender Criticalism is normal stuff actually
Amnesty have issued an apology to JK Rowling and the rest. Adjust your expectations, and donations, accordingly www.amnesty.org.uk/latest/an-ap...
Oh, since Evangelion is going to Criterion, it's not a bad time to read @magencubed.net's Eva essay. bsky.app/profile/mage...
For no reason at all, I'm just going to share my deeply personal essay on Neon Genesis Evangelion, Shinji Ikari, memory, identity, trauma, fathers, houses, the art that shapes us, and how it grows with us over time
Fun fact: Iron Circus is RIDICULOSULY busy. So busy that I wasn't really thinking about bringing Smut Peddler back anytime soon. Then, it was implied I *couldn't,* even if I wanted to. ... Anyway, follow this page to get notified when we launch. :3 www.kickstarter.com/projects/iro...
Coming soon: THE RETURN OF SMUT PEDDLER.
Smut Peddler was the vanguard of the new wave of sexy and smutty alternative and indie comic collections. And we're not done yet.
