Hey faculty search committees, please standardize your job applications and be more clear about what you want. The process of customizing dozens of applications to suit slightly different requirements makes it more likely you're reading AI generated research and teaching statements. #academicsky

Job board venting page: "1) Looking at some of these job ads, why do I have to write so much and plan out my whole research career and teaching goals (I've never taught a course as an instructor. How can I have a teaching philosophy?) when I may not even get the job or the grants I say I'm going to apply for. This is depressing. I'm just a postdoc who likes worms and wants to teach biology. It's really hard for me to plan my whole life at a school when the job seems like such a long shot. (2) I used gemini to write my applications and I got multiple interviews. I know everyone hates AI but I hate wasting my time on applications. Don't get me wrong - I work on the prompt and I edit the final product, but I use AI to speed up the middle part (going from a rough draft to mulitple customized applications). Otherwise it was just miserable. Obviously do what you want etc but that was how I got through it, and I have no regrets. 3) @2 Hey man, this sucks. You're misrepresenting yourself and your colleagues are eventually going to find out. On top of that, you are the kind of person we all hate to have as students."
