Furious that Chris Nolan would disregard historical accuracy in adapting The Odyssey by making a "movie" with "cameras" instead of memorizing the entire story and then going on a nationwide tour to sing it to us while tripping on ergotized barley
It looks great. rich, textured. on the brain it is very smooth
Nolan has adapted the stories The Odyssey is based on more than he’s adopted the text itself. There’s a smoothing out of the text‘s complication that inevitably unwinds it a little. It’s also a puzzle box movie where whats in the box is Trauma, but the Trauma of learning where you are in history.
*whispers* hey, if you're a grad-level educator of conscience, you should probably warn PhD students off of coming here at this point and offer to help them make favorable contacts in other of the many excellent international universities if you're invested in their success
The most anti-legal immigrant administration ever just made it illegal for international students to transfer schools or change majors or shift any "educational objective" in their 1st year and for graduate students **at any point** ever, at all. There is no legal basis for this
Colleagues: if you do #GlobalMiddleAges work, this is an urgent case where you can use your expertise to support cultural conservation & Indigenous peoples. If you don't know Chaco Canyon, look it up. But do so quickly. The Comment period ends 29 July. #MedievalSky
Please blow up the public comment (included below): BREAKING NEWS (7/15) — The administration wants to destroy Chaco Canyon without consulting Tribal Nations. It’s an irreplaceable historic & cultural site with 4,700 archeological sites that could be lost to the bulldozers of oil & gas development

Yes, it's a foul and so per the rules it's no goal and a free kick back in the Egyptian half - fine. But did the referee make a "clear and obvious error" for VAR to intervene? What was "clear and obvious" about it?

This really is a vintage World Cup: terrific football, ties - you bet! - and now: a dazzlingly dodgy decision for the hosts. The US now only needs to master 'chants that are not boringly literal' to become a footballing nation.
I have such an expertly curated algorithm that I'm seeing posts from Mexican street food restaurants in the US and this is how they're advertising the game tomorrow night. "Good vibes"
