Anticholinergic Burden & CKD www.kireports.org/article/S246... Conclusion: Anticholinergic burden was associated with greater risk of CKD progression. Suggests it could contribute to a decline in renal function & highlights importance of medication review in CKD management

Anticholinergic Burden and Progression to Kidney Replacement Therapy

The cholinergic system exerts nephroprotective effects through antiinflammatory and vasoregulatory pathways. However, the impact of anticholinergic medications on chronic kidney disease (CKD) progress...

As we send a Black man and a woman around the moon for the first time, let’s remember the trailblazing Black woman Katherine Johnson, whose brilliant calculations were critical to the initial Apollo 11 mission. Her work spanned 33 years at NASA, including contributions to the Space Shuttle program.

This is a great message for all the folks who think the word ‘deprescribing’ is too hard for people to understand. Imagine having to explain that pharmacy is not the same as palmistry….

The Pharmaceutical Journal @pharmaj.bsky.social · 5mo ago

#ThrowbackThursday, courtesy of the #RPS Museum... Here, wartime pharmacist Mr WF Gardner describes in a 1917 letter to #ThePJ having to explain that 'pharmacy' and 'palmistry' are not the same thing. Yes, pharmacists are highly skilled —but unfortunately they can’t predict the future! #TBT

I deleted my X account a while back. I don't regret it. In the end, I wouldn't shop in a shop that sold the things they sell on X. Your presence on a platform drives advertising revenue and makes the platform money. Choose the companies you support wisely, because they profit because of you.

Access to vaccines is not a privilege — it is a human right. In @statnews.com today, Stefan Peterson and I write about using a human rights-based approach to deal with vaccine denialism and the return of measles, whooping cough and diphtheria www.statnews.com/2025/11/12/c...

Kids have a right to vaccinations. Let's bring in the lawyers

Children suffering from diseases that should have been consigned to history is a moral failure. Access to vaccines is a human right.

Looks like a great opportunity for researchers to improve exploration and understanding of shared decision making in deprescribing. A good topic for an interest group discussion at ICOD 2026 in Montreal?

Scoping review in @agsjournal.bsky.social finds few studies explicitly incorporate or measure Shared Decision Making (SDM) in deprescribing interventions for older adults: buff.ly/WF5FzSb More evidence linking SDM in deprescribing interventions with health and behavioural outcomes is needed!

#deprescribing needs careful monitoring. This week, restarted medication (albeit at lower doses than originally taking) for 2 patients whose symptoms worsened after stopping. A deprescribing success - found out the medication likely helping more than harming; now will assess response to confirm.

Another week at the Geriatric Day Hospital. Nice to see return patient but sad that after stopping Ozempic last yr (d/t ++ weight loss, muscle weakening + frailty), they started Mounjaro… (with ++ wt loss, weakening). Found this article to share with older people www.healthline.com/health-news/...

Ozempic May Make Your Muscles and Bones Weaker

Weight loss medications like Ozempic and Wegovy can help people drop pounds quickly, but they can also cause a rapid loss of muscle mass and bone density unless lifestyle changes are made.

I realize that we are living in the darkest timeline and there are enough things already to worry about, but we really need to ring the alarm on measles and vaccination in Canada. Over 100 cases in a week with 42 in hospital is a major concern and action is needed now: www.ctvnews.ca/toronto/arti...

Ontario measles case count hits 572, up by more than 100 in past week

Measles cases keep climbing in Ontario, as the province counts more than 100 new cases in the past week.
