House prices have been growing three times faster than wages since 1999. If first home buyers are going to get a chance, we need a temporary drop in house prices. We need a public developer to build and sell homes people can actually afford. www.afr.com/property/res...

Top-end property prices hit hardest as housing slump deepens

Sydney led a national housing market downturn, tumbling 1.4 per cent in July alone as premium properties took the brunt of the fall with a 1.8 per cent decline.

Every day, Kevin Rudd looks more and more like Colonel Sanders. Colonel Sanders' profession was dishing up grease and slop. Kevin Rudd wants to do that too, telling Australians we need to spend all our money on AUKUS submarines. #auspol

Kevin Rudd, looking like the new Colonel Sanders.

@lintonbesser.bsky.social What’s discussed in this, if you haven’t already seen it, is an abuse by the ABC - of the consensus of the Arrernte people - as told by their elders. Central desert people know how to talk and think. One ? to the ABC. Did #Voice mean nothing?

I have made a video with footage no one has seen yet demonstrating how the ABC deliberately erased Gaza from its reporting of the Pine Gap protest last week. www.instagram.com/reel/Dbb5iQt...

We said this law was unconstitutional, and it was unconstitutional. Not because we're clever, you could spot the invalidity from Jupiter. Politicians make these ridiculous laws knowing they'll be struck down, as a measure of their own cowardice and lack of seriousness.

NSW’s highest court strikes down anti-protest law introduced in wake of Bondi beach terror attack

Court finds law – which effectively meant protesters could not march without risk of arrest – is unconstitutional

Exclusive: University of Queensland scraps Indigenous children’s book, citing controversial anti-Semitism policy

The University of Queensland has decided to pulp all 5,000 copies of a children’s picture book written by an Indigenous poet, after media queries from News Corp’s _The Australian_ newspaper that levelled accusations of anti-Semitism against the book’s illustrator. It’s a decision that also marks the first time a controversial definition of anti-Semitism, adopted by Australia’s universities last year, has been cited as the basis of a book cancellation. _Bila, a river cycle_ , was written by award-winning Wiradjuri poet Jazz Money and illustrated by Matt Chun. It’s an environmentally-focused book that tells the story of a river’s journey from mountain to sea and the people who pollute the waterways. Money and Chun began work on the book in 2022 and it was due for release this year. Jazz Money, the author of __Bila, a river cycle.__ In January this year, Dymocks announced that it was removing all of Chun’s books from its stores after he wrote an article titled “We don’t mourn fascists” in the aftermath of the Bondi terror attack. After the Dymocks announcement, _The Australian_ approached University of Queensland Press (UQP), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the University of Queensland, to ask about _Bila._ The chair of UQP, Professor Heather Zwicker, told the newspaper that the publisher had, “put the proposed publication on hold pending the outcome of an internal review and external legal processes underway,” effectively suspending its publication. ### This post is for subscribers only Become a member to get access to all content Subscribe now

🟢 Senior Hamas official Basem Naim said Israeli attacks on Gaza have not stopped since the Board of Peace roadmap was announced, killing 21 Palestinians and injuring more than 35 others. He charged Israel with attempting to derail the process and called for urgent international pressure to force it to halt its crimes and comply with its obligations under the agreement.

📌 His remarks in full:

“At a time when Hamas demonstrated considerable flexibility and a high degree of responsibility by agreeing to the roadmap presented by the Board of Peace for the transition to the second phase of the Gaza War Termination Agreement, the Israeli occupation significantly escalated its targeting of civilians. Its attacks have not ceased since the understandings were announced, as it has continued to strike inhabited homes, displacement tents, and civilian vehicles across various areas of the Gaza Strip, resulting in the martyrdom of 21 Palestinians and the injury of more than 35 others, half of whom were women and children.

“This escalation, coinciding with progress on the political track, clearly demonstrates that the occupation government is seeking to undermine efforts aimed at ending the war and to impose facts on the ground by force. This situation calls for urgent international action to pressure the occupation to halt its crimes and comply with its obligations under the agreement.”Bild

US #MIC a sector that is excluded from many international reporting requirements regarding emissions. This means that other countries are not obliged to cut their military emissions, estimate 5% worldwide. A single bullet is toxic to environment, releasing chemicals that shouldn't be there. #auspol

There’s a powerful new documentary out called Earth’s Greatest Enemy by Abby Martin about the ecocidal abuses of the US war machine, and it addresses the most pressing existential hurdles we face as a species like nothing I’ve seen before. www.caitlinjohnst.one/p/earths-gre...

Palantir was sold to the NHS for £330m on the promise that it would magically reduce hospital stays by 15%. It has been found to have no impact at all. Get Palantir out.
