In Perth today for the 7th Senate inquiry into intergenerational housing inequity. Heard overwhelming evidence of a housing catastrophe with house prices & rents rising multiple times faster than wages or inflation.

This is a Minister who is purposeful delaying family reunion visas, denying refugees protection and scapegoating migrants for issues his Government created. It is not surprise Labor is in a race to the bottom on immigration, but it is toxic politics. www.abc.net.au/news/2026-08...

Labor was poised to reveal massive migration cuts, then suddenly delayed

The ABC understands the cuts to migration numbers are contentious within Labor, but no reason for the delay is given.

House prices have been growing three times faster than wages since 1999. If first home buyers are going to get a chance, we need a temporary drop in house prices. We need a public developer to build and sell homes people can actually afford. www.afr.com/property/res...

Top-end property prices hit hardest as housing slump deepens

Sydney led a national housing market downturn, tumbling 1.4 per cent in July alone as premium properties took the brunt of the fall with a 1.8 per cent decline.

Something that’s been lost in the NAPLAN reporting today: the equity gap in our school system is growing. First Nations kids, kids living in poverty, and those in regional, rural and remote communities are falling further behind. Most of them attend an underfunded public school.

They’re using AI to justify slashing and offshoring even more Australian jobs and the Government is standing by and watching it happen. Ask yourself who profits from this? We need a system that delivers for the 99% who need jobs not the 1% who live off profits.

It's disappointing that there's no longer a Minister for Active Transport in the new Labor ministry. When fuel costs are high and transport emissions keep rising, helping people make more trips by walking & cycling is a priority for the Greens - it's a shame it's not for Labor.

Right now, wild fires are tearing through Europe, Canada, and the US. Half of England and the whole of Wales are officially in drought. Here in Australia, we are expecting one of the worst El Ninos on record. The world is on fire, people are dying and we know who lit the match.

Labor should not be rolling out the red carpet for new AI data centres with fast-tracked approvals behind closed doors. We need a plan that protects workers, artists, personal data, communities & the climate. Until then, people & the planet must come before big tech profits.

Sport and private equity do not mix. FIFA’s secret deal to sell out the World Cup to billionaire investors further jeopardises the integrity of the sport. Football belongs to the fans and the players, and shouldn’t be up for sale.

With Victoria's first detection of bird flu today, it is urgent that Labor bans duck shooting. Duck shooting creates a completely avoidable biosecurity threat. It would be utterly reckless for Labor to allow another duck shooting season now that bird flu has reached Victoria.
