This is a fun team as a whole new generation announces itself: Bryant, Freeman, Machado, Betts, Altuve all getting their first nod. Also the first time that Kershaw, Verlander, and Scherzer all made the team. Going deeper Lindor/Ramirez take CLE to the World Series and Judge makes his debut.

HUGE: Under Mayor Mamdani, New York City just recorded its safest first 7 months of a year in history—and its safest July ever. In July: Major crime dropped 13% Murder dropped 32% Robberies dropped 15% Vehicle thefts dropped 25% Democratic mayors are putting public safety first.

Overall I feel that the Yankees got two good hitters but not overall impact players and gave up a number of interesting prospects. I am sort of 'fine' with this deadline. Wish they had been the ones to get Adley but I am not sure if they could have matched Boston's package, esp. w/o lombard.

Not sure what to think of the Ramos trade. He is useful but not close to a star player and I have heard a lot of good things about Lalane. And this may be weird but since Jeff wasn't a big project, I can't count Kaeden Kent out.

I have been a little skeptical of the Elias hate among the many O's fans in my timeline. He did build a good young core in 23-24! But this move really pushes me into their camp. Elias can rebuild but go no further. This is a bad trade no matter what the haul is for what it says.

I would be very mad if I were an Orioles fan. 2.5 games out and they sell a guy who isn't even a rental. You build around Rutschman, not trade him early when you are a few games out.

The Belgium match did not go well and while some of that was out of his control (he didn't call Infantino) much of it is. That needs to be corrected. BUT the US had never played as well at a world cup as they did in this one. That is also something.

Mauricio Pochettino has signed a new contract with US Soccer, keeping him in charge of the USMNT through the 2030 World Cup. www.sixonefivesoccer.com/mauricio-poc...

It’s important to understand that when 1.2 million Americans are dying from a disease, any government action is excessive and tyrannical, but if a dozen trans women want to play soccer no government action can go far enough

I just keep coming back to one question: If being 2 1/2 games out of a playoff berth with 51 games left is a selling position, what is the value of that playoff berth? Why are we letting 40% of the teams into the playoffs, deeply undermining the regular season, if this is how teams act?
