Retired family doc, more enthusiastic than good cook, Va Tech and NDSU fan. Love Byzantine art and history. I speak several languages very poorly.

This morning in Biddeford, Maine, a 26-year-old man said goodbye to his wife and daughter and left for work. Moments later he was dead, shot in the head by ICE agents, the second man ICE has killed in six days. ICE is killing our neighbors. ICE cannot be reformed. Abolish ICE.

These are the exact words she posted: “BREAKING: The ICE agent who shot and killed Renee Good in broad daylight has been identified as Jonathan Ross by the Minnesota Star Tribune. I think today is a great day for Jonathan to be indicted!”

Two ICE agents tracked down a woman *inside a polling place* yesterday. Why? They demanded that she take down an Instagram post in which she named Jonathan Ross as the man who shot & killed Renee Good (after the Star Tribune identified Ross). www.syracuse.com/news/2026/06...

It's not 1536, but Anne Boleyn has taken over the news. Recently a team of computer scientists, electrical engineers and a historical novelist think they have discovered the “true face” of Anne (& her mother) by applying AI-based computational facial recognition to Holbein sketches. The catch? /1

They’re at it again. None of this is valuable historical research. It’s about exploiting historical artifacts and historians to develop computer vision further and to make a soft cultural argument for surveillance tech. This nonsense has been going on since c2010.

A 16th-Century Sketch Claims to Depict Anne Boleyn. A.I. Says It’s Her Mom.
Using facial-recognition technology, scholars have concluded that a 500-year-old drawing labeled “Anna Bollein Queen” more likely showed her mother, Elizabeth Howard.

If there's one good thing about the brazen racism of the Supreme Court is that it makes it a lot easier for middle of the road Dems to rationalize packing the court.

Yesterday, I flew from Portland to London. Our flight was delayed 40 min. by CBP detaining someone on the inbound flight. I saw a young woman getting on the plane after the delay. She did not look like a terrorist; she looked crushed. She took a 9-hr flight in then a 9-hr flight back for nothing.

Say it loud. Kavanaugh hates the phrase "Kavanaugh stops" that allows racial profiling based on his ruling this last fall. He added a concurrence on an unrelated decision that says he's against racial profiling. Problem: that carries no precedent. So, thanks Susan Collins for saddling us with him.
