Game Pass could've flourished w/ an influx of new content on a low-cost device if MS hadn't gutted it's studios. “Cloud streaming...requires minimal memory, making it an increasingly attractive low-cost thin client device...[when] memory prices are rising.” www.theverge.com/games/963132...
The PS6 sure sounds like a handheld
Did Sony try to set the agenda on June 5th?

I'm so appalled at the human cost of Microsoft's mishandling of Xbox. But even from a purely business sense - I just don't get it? With next gen consoles likely to cost over 1k USD, that could easily create market pressure to push consumers to cloud streaming and subscriptions - like Game Pass.

"Last year, Microsoft made $101 billion in profits, got a $12.5 billion tax break from Trump & paid its CEO $96 million. This year, it's raising the price of an XBOX by $150 & eliminating 3,200 jobs. Please don't tell me corporate tax breaks create jobs. It never trickles down." - Sen Bernie Sanders
reread the Declaration of Independence in advance of the Fourth of July, and the list of all the injuries that the British crown inflicted on the colonists straight up reads like Trump's to-do list www.thenation.com/article/soci...
This is how physical media dies and we get funneled into Cloud gaming subscriptions with no real ownership of anything we play.
It looks like PlayStation 6 is going to cost Sony about $1,000 to make, which likely means it will cost more than that at retail www.eurogamer.net/ps6-bill-of-...
Only 4 more days to put your game into the game industry hardship fund! Please add your games (and TTRPGs are okay too) so we can make some money for out of work game devs! Do it over the weekend! itch.io/jam/game-ind...
Game industry hardship fund
A game jam from 2026-06-10 to 2026-06-24 hosted by Necrosoft Games. PREMISE: The game industry has a problem. Too many people are out of work (reports say 33% of the industry lost their jobs in the la...

1/3 of the game industry has lost their job in the last two years. Ubisoft closed two more studios today. Everyone is out of work. To that end I'm starting a new bundle to benefit a layoffs hardship fund. Game devs: please consider submitting your PAID games to the bundle, which will launch in July.
If anyone is looking to hire a Peabody and BAFTA winning senior writer, I am looking for work. I’ve got six years experience in games. Everything from indie to AAA. I am not married to staying in games. I am hoping to relocate to the Bay Area. I am keeping my ears to the ground.
Can finally share some of the photos I took in Morocco during one of our scan trips for Crossfire. One of the most stunningly beautiful places I've ever visited, and filled with the kindest, most welcoming people I've ever met.
I'm incredibly proud to share what we've been building at TNM. This project has been a huge labor of love, and I'm glad I can finally talk about it. A huge shout out to the Env team. It's been such an honor to build this with you all ❤️
Unite to survive. Enemy operators, Layla and Cross, must form a fraught alliance against a lethal threat neither could overcome alone. Introducing our debut game, Crossfire, coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox X/S, and PC. Wishlist now: crossfire.start.page
"obsession was made on a $1 million budget what a triumph!" time to see what that actually looks like
"I just don't think unionizing the games industry will work" Okay so why is it working then 👀
(1/8) Who is Deal Man? Deal Man is an Iron Age carved chalk figurine on display at Dover Museum. He was discovered in 1984 during excavations by the #Dover Archaeological Group ahead of construction work on a site adjacent to St Richards Road in, #Deal.
this industry is unbelievably wack
NEW: Bungie is planning a significant layoff following the end of Destiny 2's development. Destiny 3 is NOT in active production. Some Bungie staff are pitching and prototyping new ideas including Destiny games, but none are yet greenlit. Story: www.bloomberg.com/news/article...
Today in things that make me proud to be Mayor: PS 889's Hyper Pigmentation became 2-time Minecraft champs at the City's Annual Video Game Festival. Gaming doesn’t have to be a male-dominated industry. NYC is a top recruiter of gaming jobs & we want the next gen of hires to look more like our city.
We gotta kick Palmer Luckey outta retro gaming I’m sick of seeing him throwing his loser ass government contract money around in my hobby
To the doomers who keep saying Trump will rig the 2026 and 2028 elections: Do not concede in advance
Less than a week ago, there were several prominent voices on here saying that they were sure Orbán was going to cancel Hungary's election. And casting that as a preview of coming horrors here in the States. Well, Hungary had its vote, Orbán lost in a landslide, and he's conceded.
This is also the single best model I can think of to avoid 5/6/7+ year development cycles too - let a team build internal tools, workflows, pipelines, let them iterate, and repeat. Hiring/firing cycles (on top of the human pain) cause us to rebuild the wheel over and over, and is really inefficient.
Everyone is constantly in awe at what Hello Games has done with No Mans Sky, myself included. And it’s worth thinking about how much of that success is owed to them staying small and investing in their employees growth. No publisher forcing layoffs and bleeding talent at the end of each dev cycle
vibe coding aside, this is not what's happening? generally Claude is used when *writing* code not when serving requests. I hate this shit but also it does behoove you to know how it works.
HMMMM I WONDER WHY BLUESKY IS INCONSISTENT ALL THE SUDDEN ANYWAYS HERE'S A LOOK AT CLAUDE'S CURRENT DOWN DETECTOR
Note that the workers who made Beast Breaker ARE getting rev-share on sales of the game on Steam, even though the studio shut down. Why? Because we had a union, and we negotiated for it.
Game workers do not receive any residuals/royalties on shipped titles and shipping bonuses are increasingly rare. There's also no guarantee that your name will even be in the credits if you leave before ship, and studios will use this to keep you compliant. All of this can and should change.
After years away I have returned to writing about video games with a piece for Remap about the less immediately obvious problems with DLSS 5
The reimagined faces of Nvidia‘s unfortunate DLSS 5 rollout drew a lot of attention, but there were loads of other less eye-catching but equally major errors on display argues @brunodias.bsky.social remapradio.com/articles/dls...
i guess those celebrating soras death didnt get the memo that some of us need daily personalized greetings from james bond—for mental health
The Epic layoffs are bewildering, unacceptable, but also unsurprising. Tim's desire to pursue costly legal battles against Apple and Google resulted in hundreds of millions in lost rev on mobile that is at least indirectly part of FN's slower growth and part of why 1k people lost their jobs today.
