There Will Come Soft Rains by Ray Bradbury
The voice-clock sang, breakfast was ejected, but no doors slammed. The garage chimed and lifted its door to reveal the waiting car. The house sat alone in a city of rubble and…

Today, August 4, 2026, is the setting of Ray Bradbury’s short story “There Will Come Soft Rains” about a fully automated house continuing on after the family who lived there and the world around it died in a nuclear blast.
everyone covered in mud, falling on their asses trying to field the ball. good shit!
Watching the first Women's Pro Baseball League game, LA vs NY. But the game is actually in Illinois and it's pouring rain. You'd think tarps, but their schedule is so tight I can't imagine they have the ability to make up games. So, we get chaos. Fun for LA fans though.
let's take a moment also to celebrate the first absolute meatball down the middle getting fucking crushed. the first woman in pro baseball league history to get her shit rocked
and Denae Benites hits the first home run in Women's Pro Baseball League history!

write the book you want to read because you will have to read it over and over and over when revising
despite the trials, it's nice to ride a bike on planet earth
just bought a pen from the stationery store so good i might go back and get another one
can’t wait to get my end of year summary from apple music and learn my most listened to album was “brown noise: loops for relaxation, deep sleep, meditation, and babies”
herbs & herb accessories for Pentiment :) one of the first sets of full props i did during my internship. it was fun researching the style/relevant plants for these.
lifted some weights, dodgers routed the yankees (with yamamoto pitching a complete game), about to play some dnd, and later i’ll go to the brewery to write. a good sunday.
deeply annoying that creative breakthroughs don’t come on schedule from direct work but from things like “open-ended conversations with interesting people” and “doing nothing”
Must feel so good for text after you hit ctrl-x, floating in liminal space, before ctrl-v thrusts it back onto the desolate page
I keep seeing arguments for games being expensive due to hyper realistic expectations for art, or simply lots of art. What I don’t see is the actual most costly reason: Indecision Iteration is good, but the yearly rebuilding of entire characters, storylines, and levels, is the most expensive thing
Many factors at play here - not the least of which is higher-ups (in their infinite wisdom) not being able to commit to anything, or knowing good from bad All the while the economy at large expects the profit line go infinitely up, absolutely ignoring its undeniable tendency to do the opposite

AK joined Avowed and swiftly took on one of the most challenging and daunting tasks on the project, establishing Sapadal's voice—and she did it with incredible style. Giuliana and her quest "A Lady Never Tells" were her work from start to finish, too, as were the best of the Ancient Memories.
I'm very sorry to announce that I was one of the devs affected by the Obsidian layoffs today. At least for four years, it was a beautiful dream. If you need a writer with experience in everything from the fog of war to romance - especially if you're open to remote - please get in touch.
Soojin is a brilliant and adaptable artist. Did you love the look of Pentiment? They were responsible for a ton of it. Out of the many, many ways they left their mark on that game, though, my favorites have to be the Landsknecht playing cards and story-time with Brother Sebhat.
i'm getting let go in september :^D (pained grinning) i'll be looking for work in any eligible field starting now, but especially then. if you need a concept artist / illustrator, i'm here <3
Jay brought a ton of experience and knowledge to the Avowed team. The core concept of Galawain's Tusks came from him, as did my favorite grumpy survivalist, Marius, whose story ended up being one of the most touching in the game.
I and a good number of very talented game devs were laid off by Obsidian as part of the Microsoft sacrificial rituals this morning. If you or anyone you know is looking for a Senior Writer/ND with more than two decades' experience in titles like Dragon Age and Mass Effect, please let me know!
Katie joined Avowed and immediately started writing some of the funniest stuff in the game. If you liked Yatzli, Tira Nui Hajime, "The Wasteland Courier" quest—you liked Katie's work.
So many amazing, wonderful people - and me - were laid off today. All of them deserve the world and I hope they get back on their feet soon. As for me? I suppose I'm open for work once the shock wears off.
Obsidian lost many excellent developers and wonderful people today. If you see them on your feed, please share their posts and celebrate their work.
Proud to announce our HARDSHIP FUND: uvw-cwa.org/hardship-fun... If you've been recently laid off and need support, we got you.
I’m so glad Bluesky has the juice for pretty much every major sport, this shit is so fun
