Our regular game night has been Big Walk the last few weeks, and its been so special. This game definitely sets out to capture a particular experience in a way that's so refreshing and earnest.
Sunset Studio Window. Oil on canvas 51 x 61cm. The plants have been wrenched from the studio loos but I have this to remind me!! Currently on sale for £300.00
Why is the sound of @househouse.com's Big Walk sounds so realistic & immersive? @emaudible.bsky.social with @ashellinthepit.com went on some big walks in Australia! They really went the extra mile. Thanks for the peeks into the process: www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSN6... www.youtube.com/watch?v=xW3a...

Well this has both put The Lost Wild on my radar and made me sad about Everwild all over again.

The "zero shadow" phenomenon is only true for perfectly vertical straight-sided objects, but it's trippy to look at. The State Museum of Natural and Cultural History of Hawai'i ran a contest to come up with a name & landed on 'Lāhainā' which means "cruel sun" in Hawai'ian.

Often times if you play a game with what feels like strange or shortsighted decisions made in it, it’s not due to a wild miscalculation in the planning stage but a late adaptation to some other limitation (time, tech, knock on design changes) and people doing the best with what they have…. 1/2
game devs: what are the myths that a lot of players of games think are true about making games that are completely untrue? If you could snap your fingers and they suddenly all knew the truth about it what would it be?
World Cup attendees, pay respects to our local patron saint.
my brother & his partner are telling me an insane story about this local deity called "st. rat" which is apparently a mosaic relief put up by some queers in seattle. the city kept trying to paint over it, but people would repeatedly just use acetone and remove the paint until the city gave up

If anyone is looking to hire a Peabody and BAFTA winning senior writer, I am looking for work. I’ve got six years experience in games. Everything from indie to AAA. I am not married to staying in games. I am hoping to relocate to the Bay Area. I am keeping my ears to the ground.

Thinking a lot about Bungie and Destiny this week. My heart goes to everyone there right now. I didn’t work there for a long time, but it was a team I sought out because I wanted to learn from them. They are wildly talented artists, and taught me a ton (and gave me a true love for gradients).

This is honestly one of my favorite things about living in South Seattle - sad this didn’t become a permanent fixture, but very happy to see Mayor Wilson extend this to every weekend. Biking between Seward Park and Colman Beach in Washington Summer is 👌
Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson announced a Bicycle Sundays schedule (when Lake Washington Boulevard is off-limits to cars) that includes 65 percent more days than her predecessor's parsimonious version of the annual pedestrian- and bike-friendly celebration. wilson.seattle.gov/2026/04/13/m...
This is also the single best model I can think of to avoid 5/6/7+ year development cycles too - let a team build internal tools, workflows, pipelines, let them iterate, and repeat. Hiring/firing cycles (on top of the human pain) cause us to rebuild the wheel over and over, and is really inefficient.
Everyone is constantly in awe at what Hello Games has done with No Mans Sky, myself included. And it’s worth thinking about how much of that success is owed to them staying small and investing in their employees growth. No publisher forcing layoffs and bleeding talent at the end of each dev cycle
