Google Built a Monopoly on Search Defaults and Will Do It Again in AI

In addition to having no experience in immigration, their website shows Ilya Shapiro (!) and disgraced former law prof Joshua Wright (!) as Senior Counsel. I don't think this massive contract was awarded to give immigrant children effective, zealous advocacy. burkegroup.law/our-team/

26-employee Texas law firm gets $150M to represent 24,000 children in immigration court

A frequent topic of conversation in my family group is the decline in commercial jingles. I still hum ones from the 80s and 90s; they are clearly effective marketing. I feel it's a signifiant cultural loss

I got Nats.tv which is not even available through the MLB app (in DC MLB mysteriously only shows MASN for the Orioles) and even so I can't watch the Phillies feed.

No results on ESPN+ if you search for "Women's Professional Baseball League" or "WPBL" instead of "Women's Pro Baseball League" -- great work

I think this thread is basically what I believed when I began covering the consumer system and while a lot of what Nathan is describing is factually correct as to the mechanisms by which the system itself works, I’ve eventually had to admit that a lot of people also do just love cheap bullshit

The Phillies have acquired the Swinging Friar from the Padres to bolster the Phanatic, the Phanatic's mom, and the Galápagos Gang in their mascot lineup.

In 1965 the Beatles got busted for having girls in their hotel room in Minneapolis; I was amused to learn that the specific charge Paul could have been arrested on is “false hotel registration” — i.e. you are not allowed to have anyone in a hotel room not registered

Yeah so NYT asked me ~2 yrs ago to write an op-ed about how the Colorado is running dry, & what we should do to keep this exact thing from happening. I said "There's only one real answer. Bill farmers by how much water they use. Duh." NYT editorial staff freaked tf out & cancelled the piece.

saw an article today about an az politician saying how great it was that we're now in emergency drought conditions because the farmers get automatic bailouts and I feel like way more Professional Rural Understanders just breeze by sentences like that. www.paysonroundup.com/news/arizona...
