MAHA is a movement centered on conspiracy theories and eugenics. Their rhetoric sometimes aligns with valid concerns, but there is nothing to be gained from engaging with them. So incredibly disappointed in @aoc.bsky.social and her team. They should know better.

There is pervasive corruption across our healthcare and agricultural systems that defy party lines. I meet with MAHA activists because a lot of their concerns are bipartisan issues that major corporations paint as partisan. The fight isn't left and right, it's top and bottom.

Good-faith concern on this issue would be going, "hmm, professional sports leagues should probably have some standards in place to ensure trans competitors aren't getting an unfair advantage," googling for 5 minutes, realizing every sports league already has those standards and dropping it.

I feel like as trans women we are so aware of the weight our existence puts on others, and so then we are all too willing to whittle ourselves down to non-existence.

I grew up close to the border and got most of the Canadian stations, and watched a lot of the shows @nikostratis.com mentions. I don’t have any data just anecdotes, but I feel like there were a lot of closeted American kids who found something queer-adjacent to connect with in weird Canadian TV

Whitmer gets this exactly wrong. Politics isn't just an assessment of your material state. It's also a social experience, something you talk about with others. "Fix the damn roads" worked because it was a classic water cooler issue. But so is "Trump's tearing down the White House"!
