I'll summarize this: Mamdani asked NYers to keep air conditioning at 78 degrees. A wave criticism hit online. A MSNBC broadcast pointed out the US Department of Energy recommends that 78 degree figure. Immediately after, the US Department of Energy deleted 6,000 web pages related to energy saving.

In an unprecedented act of dissent, active-duty USAF Major Jason Watson was arrested on the Capitol steps after calling for the impeachment & removal of Donald Trump. Risking his career to uphold his constitutional oath, his arrest marks a historic moment. ✊🏻✊🏿✊🏼✊🏾✊🏽

ICE will no longer publicly report the deaths of immigrants recently released from detention. ICE frames this as "common sense," when in fact, it's an effort to obscure the true number of people who die as a result of being detained—especially now as in-custody deaths surge.

ICE will no longer report deaths of detainees who have recently been released from custody

The goal of the 2021 policy was to ensure that ICE could not avoid accountability for deaths by releasing severely ill people from custody.

as many of you will remember, I dug into detailed local reporting about a different ICE victim every day of Lent to meditate on their stories, and when you read them all lined up some clear patterns start to emerge. the starkest to me was that every employee of GEO Group should be sent to The Hague

GEO Group (and DHS) think they have the power to forbid a member of Congress from speaking to people locked up in Delaney Hall: www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

Republicans want billions of dollars for ICE funding, slush funds, and billionaire giveaways. When it comes to lowering health care costs or helping families afford groceries, suddenly there's nothing left. That's the choice they're making.

NEW: This church teaches that once an abuser is forgiven, anyone who speaks about the wrongdoing can be accused of having an unforgiving heart. The burden of sin would shift from the person who committed the act to the person who won’t let the matter rest. W/ @startribune.com

In This Church, Child Sexual Abuse Has Gone Unchecked for So Long That It Spans Generations

The church's culture of forgiving and forgetting sins has absolved abusers and silenced victims across the country.

NEW — I wrote about my visit to Delaney Hall, the ICE facility in Newark, NJ where detainees are on a hunger and labor strike in protest of rotten food, unpaid work, and unjust detainment, and where protesters outside have spent the last week drawing ICE's ire while keeping strikers' demands alive.

Starved, smashed and bloodied: The violence at ICE’s Delaney Hall

Brutality towards detainees and protesters continues to unfold in Newark, NJ. The Handbasket was on-site to report.

Absolutely insane. Treasury went out of the way to hide that a SCOTUS justice’s son was working *in their office of legal counsel* and didn’t disclose this even when SOT Bessent was a litigant *in a case that went before Alito.* This would be instant disbarment for any other judge in the country.

Alito’s employment with the department is something of a closely guarded secret. He doesn’t maintain a public resume or LinkedIn, the Treasury Department website makes no mention of him, and his three professional bar listings are outdated or incorrectly list previous employers.

Alito was hired to the Treasury general counsel’s “front office” in the first months of the second Trump administration as the White House sought to staff loyal political appointees across the federal government, according to one former official with direct knowledge of the arrangement. His exact role was still being sorted during his first few weeks there as senior officials rearranged professional responsibilities, this official added. The younger Alito was an attorney at the Treasury when a lawsuit against the department and several other agencies was argued before the Supreme Court in November challenging Trump’s use of emergency powers to issue tariffs. The department never disclosed that in court documents. His father, Justice Alito, did not recuse himself from the case.

Bruce will be back in D.C. on Oct. 3, as a special guest of the first-ever Power to the People Festival — joining Tom Morello to play a few songs with his band for another night of music and resistance.

Just wanted to let you know that the IRS has audited every president annually for decades now to ensure there was no corruption and the reason you didn't know that was because only one president found that to be a problem

The felon's plan to pay off J6 thugs is not just corruption, it is buying their action to go to the mat for him during & after the Nov election. If Dems win, thugs lose their payday. This isn't to reward them for the past, it's to pay them in advance for future violence.

If you never read the book or saw the movie, you missed one of the greatest Pulitzer Prize winning sagas ever written. To dishonor Alex Haley like this is disgraceful.
