Billionaires are complaining about a 5% tax. My district represents most of this country’s wealth, so plenty of them see me as a traitor. Here’s their real problem: Silicon Valley’s Congressman pushing this shows people that taxing billionaires isn’t crazy, it’s basic economics.

With Americans already being hit with higher gas, grocery, and electricity prices, a trade war with Canada would be a disaster for the Commonwealth and the US economy. Massachusetts imports $10 billion in goods from Canada every year but Trump says we ‘don’t need Canada’. He’s wrong.
US tariffs are taxes on Americans. Not on Canadians, not on Chinese people, not on French people. Taxes on Americans. Specifically, they are taxes on Americans who buy anything containing any component or ingredient from overseas, that is, all US workers and all US firms.

This is just one of many examples of what Canadian companies are doing to reduce or eliminate their alliance on the US. The damage the sitting US administration is doing is going to have long-term implications, and no amount of lies from the president or VP will change that.

I am astonished by the actions that are being tolerated. This is not reflective of the United States. The U.S. government is behaving similarly to aggressive nations like China, Russia, or North Korea. 😠😡🤬
