Sharing a fave Shakespeare hot take: Ariel is the only actual indigenous character in “The Tempest.” While oppressed, Caliban isn’t necessarily a “colonized native,” despite how many scholars and educators have treated him. 👀

my fifteenth first day, tenth first day at Punahou, was yesterday, and it included a special guest having their FIRST first day. A lot has changed, including my new office mate. I flipped the colors this year to celebrate 10 years (and looking VERY different lol) #edusky
BUT REALLY FOLKS WHEN ARE YOU MAKING LUNCH?!?! #edusky also, as a parent: I'd add going over morning routine with your own kids too!
When back-to-school season comes around, everyone talks about lesson planning and classroom setup. Not as many people talk about getting enough sleep, eating lunch every day, and prioritizing the people and practices that sustain you outside of school.
God bless a public library. Bigger one is somewhere in here. Honestly don’t know where. Not worried. She is surrounded by books (and I am by the door also it is empty except for magical librarians).
A new school year is coming up so I thought I'd make an introduction video (including how to pronounce my last name)
This summer has been about connecting with online friends IRL. Thank you @jennbinis.bsky.social for a lovely (and wiggly!) dinner, regalos for the munchkins, and engaging me while I managed these wild ones. All this and a great picture?! I am so lucky 💕
Friends! I am seeking a short story for ninth-graders to begin discussing origin stories. Open to any and all ideas EXCEPT "House on Mango Street" (that is where we are headed) and "Harrison Bergeron" (same)! here is pretty photo I took this summer as an appreciation gift #edusky
It is wild to watch the internet comment on this after watching it all go down in my community
They’re calling it the most theater kid story of all time

Tell me about a BIPOC children's educator who is doing amazing advocacy work that we can lift up in addition to @msrachelforlittles.bsky.social! (Which she would unquestionably tell us to do!) My first one is without a doubt @heymrsbond.com! Who is yours? And let's give these folks a follow!
Safety and comfort are not the same thing. Feeling uncomfortable or unsettled is not the same as being unsafe (although it can feel the same). Self-awareness must include reflection on the difference.

I just had my first ancestral reading, which was beautiful and deep and emotional and poweful. I’m still processing it. …And I was pleased to discover that even my ancestors and pleased but generally baffled by my Shakespeare scholarshp. 😅
“What would next year’s teacher gain by getting my grade book?” This opening framing by @mrrablin.bsky.social is a fantastic reminder that our grades are in many ways tools of communication. Worth considering, then: what are we actually communicating?
These hero dogs chased off a man who tried to sexually assault two female dog walkers. They were able to push him away, and then their pack of 11 rescue dogs ran him off into a tunnel and ripped off a piece of his pants. The dogs are all getting our highest honor, a 15/10
Whoa. This piece is beautifully written and kind of blew my mind on a couple of levels. One of my favorite things I've read about facilitating PD in recent memory. Leading Science PD with Genuine Wonder www.edutopia.org/article/lead...

Education research friends: tell me about a researcher who writes beautiful scholarly articles. I'm looking for beautiful writing that disrupts the idea that scholarly work is dense and boring and full of jargon. Thank you! (Self recs welcome!) #Edusky
