Librarian/archivist person just trying to connect the dots in this crazy picture puzzle world. Carefully curated content. Opinions my own.

Business should have to accept the legal tender of this country. I try to avoid place that are credit only signal that they don't want to serve people who are unbanked or don't have access to credit. I know it's easier in some ways, but it's crummy.

This is a joke, but also not a joke. Everything in this post used to be in or on a Chicago building, but now sits in the City Museum. And I'm not even getting into their Louis Sullivan collection, which is beyond belief.

The entire Chicago Architecture Posting Guild should descend on St Louis en masse to repatriate our sacred artifacts. Many are being flaunted within a stronghold they call the City Museum.

Color photo of a huge chunk of the Schiller/Garrick building. It can be viewed in the City Museum, located in St Louis.

I oppose the closing of the National Archives facility in Chicago. The lack of transparency surrounding this decision has only deepened the loss it would represent for researchers, historians, dedicated employees, and our community. I urge the National Archives to reconsider this decision.

I hope every day you all are trying to cultivate joy. A kindness to a neighbor. A long walk. Poetry. Birdwatching. Meditation. Being silly and playing peekaboo in a checkout line with a cute baby. These are dark times, and joy is something the bastards cannot take from us. Fight for it.
