Given how many neurodivergent people are involved in science & medicine, particularly the research sector, it is far more likely accurate to say autism causes vaccines.
In other Michigan news, the state looks set to elect it's first transgender lawmaker. Joanna Whaley won her Democratic primary and will compete in November for a state house seat, beating a primary opponent who tried and failed to disqualify her for not running under her deadname
I propose a new rule for the House and the Senate. If any elected official is unavailable to perform their duties, the governor or legislature should appoint a temporary replacement. This is inspired by McConnell and Kean's absences, but also some Dem absences such as Finestein's 3 month absence.
People (or maybe this was all one person) said they liked Platner because he wasn't "smoothgroined" and he was fighting back against HR ladies, and now are like aw man, I didn't know he was a rapist. Yes you did. That's what you liked about him.
Yeah. As a nation we really did a number on ourselves allowing Trump to beat Clinton in 2016.
Not loving the word "eliminate" here, tbh
i love this idea that has been perpetuated somehow where Democrats calling a press conference would be like "interrupt all channels! someone is saying something in politics! and it's going to be taken seriously!" and also how in fact these press conferences happen daily & are ignored
So on the one hand "strongly worded letters" are bad, but impeachments that will do absolutely nothing at all because we don't have 67 votes to remove in the Senate are somehow good?
Why are the US media and Democratic politicians so averse to recognizing that SCOTUS judges can be impeached?
Did the 2007 WGA strike bring about the downfall of America by bringing "reality tv" to the fore?
I'm mostly speechless here. Apparently the glorious revolution is more important than people's lives. Or this is all or nothing / perfect is enemy of the good style thinking. Whatever it is, this is why I sometimes find myself punching left when I prefer to always be punching right.
many people, myself included, would like USAID to be dismantled with the resources and logistics being handled over to local actors also nine million people starve to death every year so if you're upset about the 600,000 dying because of Musk then you should be furious at all times
Would love to know what are the many things you believe MAHA is right about?
I think the issue here is MAHA. They are right about many things - that's part of what makes them dangerous.
If a politician need to excite you to vote, you are not voting to do what's right, you are voting for entertainment. That's no different than MAGA.
Mentioned in passing here, Deism is entirely off the list. Yes, the religion of Founding Fathers Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, George Washington, Thomas Paine and Ethan Allen is no longer recognized as a valid religion at all by the Department of Defense.
The LDS Church was left off the Department of Defense’s list of Christian religions.
Does anyone know why Ilhan Omar voted against aid for Ukraine? She was the only Democrat that voted Nay in the House.
Once again for those with fingers in their ears: The parties are not the same.
It's happening 🚨 House GOP representatives are about to introduce a bill that would completely eliminate subsidized student loans. They are trying to make it impossible to go to college unless you can afford to pay for it upfront.
Whelp, I'm an actual college student surrounded by other college students, not faculty. Maybe they share things more honestly with me than they do you? Also, I'm in STEM classes so maybe a different viewpoint.
I work on a college campus, directly with students, all day every day and all the students hate AI except the ones using it to cheat, and even those students mostly still hate it but they just want to cheat.
I notice you left off the important part, current college student discussing my experiences with Gen Z college students in my classes. I'm sure that was an unintentional oversight though, not intentional, right?
“I’m an older adult” Ok we weren’t talking about you, you absolute door knob
@booksandbows.bsky.social still a chickenshit Sure you are, that's why you have to block replies and quotes, because you're just so damn smart. Not at all about being a chickenshit chasing clout.
@booksandbows.bsky.social still a chickenshit Nah, I'm telling you my lived experience actually being a college student right now differs with your "go to any college campus" post. Sure, some students at some campuses disagree, and I'm not saying any of us wouldn't boo that guy, but you're wrong.
I've got news for @booksandbows.bsky.social I'm an older adult back in school because I'm changing careers and this idea that college campuses hate AI is very out of touch. Also, posting shit and blocking all replies and quoting is pretty chickenshit.
Stuck somewhere still trying to pretend Platner would make a good Democrat?
In The Odyssey, Odysseus has to choose between navigating close to Scylla (a monster) or Charybdis (a ship-swallowing whirlpool) He doesn't find some secret way to break that dichotomy, he doesn't give up and refuse to make a decision He goes by Scylla because fewer people die
You are *always* choosing between the lesser of two evils unless you without fail agree with every single policy decision a candidate makes. Or you're choosing a candidate not on the ballot in which case you're choosing the option that makes your vote useless.
Kamala inspired a Republican to campaign FOR her and that was disqualifying. Platner actually VOTES for a Republican for years and he’s the progressive we’ve been looking for!
Remember when we told y'all the courts were on the ballot in 2016 but y'all didn't like Hillary and gave Trump a chance? Oops. www.aclu.org/press-releas...

The court’s decision upends how miscarriage and abortion care are delivered nationwide, even in states where abortion is legally protected

This is how you do it⤵️ name the person/ party to blame in the headline and top of the story. “Over 2 million fewer people are receiving federal food assistance since Republicans in Congress cut benefits last year” www.huffpost.com/entry/snap-f...
Just listened to Schumer on Morning Joe. The man is much better than you’d think from all the crap posted here.
I haven't yet seen a reaction from Trump over his defeat at the hands of his own Supreme Court. We must still be in the throwing ketchup phase.
Trump tariffs struck down! So there IS a line the SC won't cross for him.
