I've worked in Democratic digital comms for a long time and pay attention to campaign metrics across platforms. Increasingly I'm seeing Dems who crosspost on X, Bluesky, and Threads get better engagement on Bluesky even with far fewer followers. Here's @jamestalarico.bsky.social's clip last night:

Social media analytics for different platforms and screenshots of James Talarico speaking on stage in his clip across platforms.

There's a lot of data in the analytics and it shows that Bluesky has the highest engagement rate with the least amount of followers at 19.62%

Ever since I met the senior partner at my new law firm and discovered he looks exactly like Nathan Fielder I've been a little suspicious that all of my new co-workers are actors doing a Rehearsal on me

I just asked my three year old what her favorite dinosaur was, expecting that she would indeed say triceratops (or "topatops" as she calls them) but instead she told me her favorite kind is "rosa" aka pink. Fair enough

A shocking new poll result: Many Americans somehow don't have a favorite dinosaur. And only 6% give the correct answer (triceratops). Check out YouGov's new polling on Americans and dinosaurs: yougovamerica.substack.com/p/whats-your...

A split bar chart of YouGov polling data with the headline: "Americans are most likely to say T. Rex is their favorite dinosaur, but many don't have a favorite."

The chart has the sub-headline: "Which of the following is your favorite dinosaur? (%)."

The chart has the note: "Note: "Other" includes responses of archaeopteryx, spinosaurus, plesiosaur, ankylosaurus, allosaurus, parasaurolophus, dilophosaurus, diplodocus, iguanadon, and pachycephalosaurus, as well as responses of "other." We know pterodactyls and plesiosaurs aren't dinosaurs. Opinion about dinosaurs comes from the question, "How much do you like or dislike dinosaurs?""

Try extending that graph to the left. There's a reason it was truncated there. This is a perfectly normal usage profile. Whenever a user joins a given site, there's a standard falloff curve where a fraction leaves. Since Bluesky's users have mainly come in spikes, that's just the normal curve.

If all goes according to plan, in a few hours, a crew of astronauts will begin a journey that will take them on a loop around the moon. Here's a video that NASA put together to help people visualize the journey through space, first orbiting the earth before looping around the moon and flying home 🔭

They’re telling me a great empire will be destroyed if I attack Persia. Even the oracles who don’t like me very much, very nasty, they all said to me, “Sir, it’s one of the great empires, and it’ll be destroyed. And all because you attacked Persia.” That’s what they’re telling me.
