"it looks like you're using an adblocker to visit our site." yep! ha ha! it rocks!
I don't really have an objection to the CEO saying Bluesky is open to all; it's kind of his job to do that. But as others have pointed out, the design of the site means it's harder for trolls/bots/chuds *and also* influencers/hypebeasts to get traction. The "bubble" here is actually normal humans.
Bluesky is a "liberal bubble" because fascist chuds can't get traction without algorithmic assistance and because people here trained themselves to block "debate me" trybois the instant they roll up
Bluesky's new CEO Toni Schneider on the platform's reputation for being a liberal bubble: "Yes, we definitely want that to change. It is already changing. It certainly wasn’t designed to attract one specific group of people."
You'd have to read to the thirteenth paragraph to discover the pull quote for the title was from Marcus Siding, a 23-year-old Swedish man living in Sweden that wanted to become a cop, but his ADHD diagnosis at the age of 12 barred him by law from becoming a Swedish cop Seems relevant
if there's a sunday chore you hate doing i encourage you to avoid it. yes you've painlessly knock it out every other week and yes it only actually ever takes 15 minutes, but what if this time it kills you? best to avoid it
Poasting from my Lumia 800 over 2G at the train station after getting off a class 158, am I 12 again?!

After decades of saying "if you can't follow complex instructions, and guess how to proceed in novel situations, we're going to fire your ass" is appropriate for humans, C-level execs are now giving AI the pass of "hey, maybe a little more training, and a higher salary will help." Is AI a nepo-hire?
Update: Google just sent me a statement saying it is “rolling back” this AI feature that let anyone make completely bullshit satellite images. Comes after our demos of the tool and those from OSINT researchers. One of the worst AI tools I’ve ever seen bsky.app/profile/jose...
New from 404 Media: Google Earth has introduced an AI feature that lets anyone fabricate completely bullshit satellite images. In our own tests, we added a “bomb blast and crater” to an area of Los Angeles. This is a misinformation time bomb, will 100% be abused www.404media.co/google-earth...
I spy with my satellite eye, something beginning with E. planetarycomputer.microsoft.com/explore?c=-2... #emfcamp
Surely the solution here is just *don't use AI tools* for your writing and research and continue to do your writing and research in ALL the ways you were doing it before you started using AI instead of doing the work??
Literally everything we do in everyday life is safe and does not kill people because there are thousands of individuals working in unnamed government departments who do the sorts of things that billionaires think are a waste of money

150,000 marched yesterday in London for trans rights. Opened the Sky News app. Scrolled and scrolled. Nothing. BBC News app. Nothing. Guardian app. Nothing. This is what actual silencing looks like.
If someone didn't believe in gay marriage, it wouldn't be acceptable to refer to a male colleague's husband as 'your so called husband' or 'the man you call your husband'.
Yep we need to die in this hill. Intentionally misgendering someone is transphobic, doing to repeatedly in a workplace is harassment.
Good. Look, if it is a genuinely honest error, most people I know, including myself, aren't going to make a fuss beyond maybe a gentle clarification first time. If people wilfully misgender trans and non-binary individuals though they absolutely should face misconduct proceedings.
People are making fun of AOC for having a slight southern accent while speaking in Memphis but they clearly don’t know the pain of habitually and unconsciously imitating the speaking style of the people around you
