I need to give a gigantic shout-out to the Field Museum team that built the incredibly impressive After the Age of Dinosaurs exhibit. The consideration given to concise accessible science content delivery, aesthetic use of light and color, weaving together different stories... Remarkable work!

Antisemitism is genuinely rising, and we need alliances to fight it, and prominent American Reform rabbis would rather burn their credibility defending a war criminal who has nothing but disdain for Reform Jews anyway! It’s a betrayal of our community in so many ways.

It’s embarrassing that the rabbi of Central Synagogue - one of the most prominent Reform rabbis in the US - is portraying Mamdani’s accurate description of Netanyahu as a war criminal as a sign of antisemitism. This is part of why young people take antisemitism less seriously than they should.

*Assuming* the reporting is correct that Adam Driver is our new Magneto in the modern day MCU, my guess is that this iteration will be a survivor of the ethnic cleansing in the Bosnian War of the early/mid 1990s. I’m not necessarily advocating for this approach, but it would solve the age problem.

To date, immigration officials have shot and killed 11 people, including two Minnesotans. Across the country, they operate with no respect for human life, the law, or consequences. There's no reforming this agency. Rip it apart.

stop. if you think the existence of a warrant is part of the conversation in any way, you cannot, by definition, argue that it makes any difference whether the guy they killed had a warrant or not. because right guy or wrong guy, an arrest warrant isn't a death sentence.

On May 29, 2026, the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) proposed sweeping changes to U.S. federal grant regulations (Title 2, Part 200 of the CFR) that would fundamentally alter how our science is funded, managed, and conducted. If finalized, these rules will introduce unprecedented political interference into scientific research, add heavy administrative burdens, and restrict how U.S. paleontologists and our international collaborators use grant money. What is at stake? The proposed rule directly threatens your active and future research by seeking to: Introduce Political Oversight: Gives political appointees veto power over grant awards to ensure they align with administration priorities, bypassing traditional merit-based peer review (§ 200.205). Threaten Funding Stability: Drastically expands agency authority to abruptly pause or terminate active, multi-year grants mid-award (§ 200.340). Ban Publication Funding: Prohibits using federal grant funds to pay for journal publication and open-access fees without rare, case-by-case agency pre-approval (§ 200.461). Restrict Conference Travel: Restricts the use of grant funds to attend scientific meetings, requiring strict, case-by-case government pre-approval (§ 200.432). Jeopardize support for students and early career scientists: Introduces administrative hurdles related to the use of federal funds that support student stipends and wages (§ 200.430), as well as scholarships (§ 200.466).
