There's a lot to be hopeful about last night for trans people, and one of the best results came in Alabama. A transgender woman flipped a R+16 district running on bread and butter economic issues. They underestimated her because of her gender identity. Subscribe to support our journalism.

“We showed that a truly grassroots campaign that stands on its policies and its principles has a real shot in Alabama.”

I’m feeling even better this morning y’all. The results at the state Supreme Court level means anti-trans laws in very bad states can now be challenged. The ballot measures will likely go down in court. Trifectas mean good laws coming in new states. And pro-trans electeds won in unlikely places!

The results are in: Election Night 2026 was a stunning rebuke of anti-trans politics. From the western congressional district of Montana to a blue Texas, Republicans spent $200 million in anti-trans ads. They suffered one of the worst defeats in history. Subscribe to support our journalism.

Wonderful election results tonight but I would specifically like to buy Texas and Arizona a beer. I lived in AZ for 11 years and I knew they could do it eventually, love to see it. Likewise I know many Texans and it felt like they were fighting against insurmountable odds, I am so pleased for them.

Transgender for everyone. God is nonbinary I want all of the pronouns back in the bios I want the Woke and DEI back in the workplace I want my Gay cartoons back, Medicare for All Socialism everywhere >B)

The 20 biggest donors this cycle have spent $2 BILLION on the midterms, the overwhelming majority of which has gone to help Republicans. In the entire 2008 cycle, the last before Citizens United, total billionaire spending was $16 million. We must get Big Money out of politics.

tech companies lost $1 trillion this week. except it's not real money. It's like, if you own 100 pokemon cards. you sold one for $3, then you sell the next one for $4? you just "gained" $100. except it's real money, in the sense banks will treat it as real money for purpose of loans

I, a biologist, do my best to understand the connections among inflation, employment, interest rates, debt, and bond markets. In my experience economists do not do the same with CO2 levels, ocean acidification, falling fish stocks, temperature, pollination failures, and resulting social conflict.

Scolding climate advocates for ignoring economic analysis is counterproductive: our analyses don’t capture the costs and benefits they care about. We should push for more cost-benefit thinking from a place of humility about what we can and can’t deliver: www.theargumentmag.com/p/what-econo...

as i was walking around the neighborhood today, i saw what i later learned to be a child dressed as a crayon. before this was explained to me i believed that i was being menaced by a large walking crayon. i burst into tears. i was terrified. this holiday is needlessly cruel and should be outlawed

This is one of the scenarios I always run by studios asking about whether they should use AI: your generative AI is generating tremendous tech debt at heavily subsidized token costs, and even minor corrections are likely going to burn even more. Can your studio take that risk?
