Birder from Chichester, UK. Love to travel and take middling photos.
It’s actually raining a little bit in Chichester. First time in c6 weeks!!! (Not sure we’re going to get enough to make much difference but at least I won’t have to water the garden tonight).
Tracey Jolliffe produces another stunning Common Kestrel photo to net her second winning Photo of the Week of 2026!

It’s been a (long) while, I know, but I’ve written something - on birds, naturally, but also on something I’ve needed after the wildfire at Dunwich… hope #birds #housemartins #dunwich #minsmere open.substack.com/pub/robyarha...
House martins and hope
Our house martins have returned this summer, with their gifts of joy and hope

RIP Bill Oddie. His ‘Little Black Bird Book’ was a brilliant read in my formative birding years, and “Birding with Bill Oddie” was such a great tv series. Hopefully the BBC might finally reshow it as a fitting tribute.
COMMON TERN The pair of common terns on the Rushy made for some great back-lit captures first thing. WWT Slimbridge @wwtsightings.bsky.social @wwtworldwide.bsky.social
Vagrant Darter This species takes its English name from its habit of appearing as a rare vagrant north of its normal range. Another name for it is Moustached darter/Sympetrum vulgatum. OM1 mkii and Leica Elmarit 200mm f2.8 SS1/2000 F8 ISO1000 #macro #dragonfly #panasonicleica #elmarit #nature
I believe this is an Olive-tree Pearl in my garden this evening (studiously ignoring the Olive Tree 3ft away). A new species for me. #teammoth
✏️ Here’s something I made earlier, and finally I can share it with you! An original colour pencil drawing of a Common Kingfisher, on A3 220gsm smooth grain drawing paper. Ready to fly to his new home now! katiefullerart.etsy.com/listing/4544...
If you think photographing birds in flight is difficult, you want to try moths!😅 This is a wonderful Hummingbird Hawkmoth, photographed yesterday from my bedroom window, just as it banked around to change direction!😀😍 Just look at that proboscis 🦋 (The moth looks a bit like a fish doesn't it!)😁
Anyone know who is colour ringing Redshanks to report this one to?Chichester Harbour last Friday. #birds #ukbirding #birdringing
My first Elephant Hawk-moth from a Chi Nats mothing morning in Bosham today. As it was windy last night there weren’t great expectations but this was the highlight of some interesting moths. #teammoth
It's my BIRTHDAY which means I'm obliged to ask for reposts and you must comply (I don't make the rules)! I'm David, a disabled and chronically shy Australian artist and photographer with autism and ADHD. I like birds, video games, fantasy & sci-fi, history, TTRPGs, and long walks in the forest.
First time trying #Chichester new music venue Upstairs at Raps. I knew Jess Hayes from Connolly Hayes would be good and she was fantastic. Joined by her blues rock legend mum Val for several songs as well. With great sound in a lovely intimate setting this is a great addition to the city!
One of the most confusing survey answer layouts I’ve ever seen!
July 21st this is a one off acoustic show at Gibson Garage in London! FREE ENTRY, first come, first served so please get down early to make sure you can get in. You will hear the new EP before anyone else in the form it was written! All on acoustic!!! 📍W1W 8NQ ⏰ 2pm START! 📸 Rob Blackham
And now goats! I look forward to the continuing adventures of the nu-metal band.
I've decided to compile a definitive thread of photos of the best goats I've photographed during my walks in the countryside, together with supporting biographical information. I will put the vital story associated with each goat in the alt text, since some of it is a little long to fit in a post.
Come for the cattle, stay for the sheep, be sure to read the alt text. 😆

A couple of Blues & a couple of Skippers from the last couple of days on the South Downs in West Sussex. Silver-studded Blue was a new one for me.
Watch BBC Countryfile tonight, BBC 1 at 7:15. It will include a short film of us in the New Forest looking for Woodpeckers and talking about volunteering for Woodpecker Network and @lesserspotnet.bsky.social
Another superb evenings entertainment at Fort Cumberland in Portsmouth. Pizza, sunset, a great host, and three top notch comedians. Headliner was the excellent @lauralexx.bsky.social It was our first time seeing her live and we will definitely be booking tickets for her tour later this year!
Like many creatives here I'm in danger of becoming extinct as increasing numbers of clients feed from the trough of AI slop. So I'll be promoting my posters etc a bit more. If you could support me by buying something or spreading the love that would be fab. Have a Great Tit to start the weekend. xx
Glass Least Grebe handmade by myself This piece was a commission and is NFS. I do accept commissions for any bird species! #birding #birdart #grebe #glassartist #glassblowing
Hi @lauralexx.bsky.social we’re planning on seeing you on Saturday but don’t know which one to choose? Are you opening one and headlining the other?
Yesterday was a beautiful evening to go on the Seal Safari cruise in Chichester Harbour. About 30 Grey & Common Seals seen. Some nice views of Little Terns and 3 Common Scoters - unusual in the harbour, especially in June! First time I’ve done the Seal trip, but I’d highly recommend it!
