With the AI stuff it’s literally just, “Come on man, but everybody’s doing it. Why are you being such a buzzkill?” but in more words than necessary.

Food photography IS an art and it requires a lot of hard work and know-how! I respect food photography so so much and I’m pissed every time I see an AI photo on a menu
This "AI food" is making me want to defend the old practice of making fake food for advertisements. Glue? Shoe polish? Shaving cream? It was deception, no question, but it also sounds a bit like art. Certainly more creativity than a prompt that produces slop. www.gourmetads.com/articles/foo...
This sub threads about that obsession “lighting” post is really nifty!
I get what you're trying to say but what makes an end product is never just one thing or specific decision. TLDR Film/TV is an inherently collaborative art form. Entire departments all working together with their own expertise and trusting that the other depts will support their work.
i'm tired of entitled people thinking life OWES them full access to everything just because they want it. it's such a disturbing trend and i genuinely feel icky seeing people act this way. 'i deserve it for free because i want it!!!!!!' you ... you do realise how messed up that is, yeah?
"I'm entitled to whatever I want whenever I want it for any reason and I don't care what satisfying these urges does to me or the world" well okay dude, seems like there's something deeper going on here, but that's just my take
30 hours of sewing so far... lots and lots of French knots but some of the grass areas are now being filled too! If you didn't see the first post, this is an aerial embroidery inspired by moorlands. At this point I still can't estimate how long it'll take in full but I'm not half way yet 😊🌱
Okay the ai book scam email offering to translate Skin Deep to *french* is fucking hilarious ngl
this man's performance sells it so hard. The turn sudden cutting off, the turn to camera, the resigned "here we go again" in his eyes
never thought short form video would be able to capture a type of humor i can only describe as “the far side-esque” but this comes close.
When the fantasy author goes ham on the banquet description but the fantasy author is from Québec

Wait, hold on. Does the rest of the world not have camping christmas??
this is why I think the best way to frame LLMs is as digital asbestos. they can do a lot! their use is also directly dangerous to the health of humans, who -- in case anyone needs a reminder -- are what all this stuff is *for*
This is what is driving me nuts. So many posters around here keep haw-hawing about R’s in strawberry and clearly have NO idea that these are extremely powerful machines *already* that we have not yet figured out how to utilize fully. If we stopped development today, they’d still be astonishing
Here's the comic Hyun Sook and I made for @perthcomicsfest.bsky.social's Tale Town anthology, edited by Elizabeth Marruffo. It was printed the size of a whole newspaper page!
RIGHT? Like, I'm not the dude's biggest fan. But I do think he has massive power to convince people with his Rational Research Dude platform and it is very concerning that he framed this whole thing as "oh a little oopsie" and not "the affirmation machine feels so good I stopped doing my job"
For writers worried that they won't be able to "prove" their work isn't Spicy Autocomplete--worry not. You thought about every choice and will be able to talk about those choices easily and clearly. Folks who used the slop machine didn't make choices and won't have anything to say about why
incorrect typefaces in media set in the past Times New Roman is NOT THAT OLD
What is an extremely nerdy/obscure/specific thing you hate with a white-hot wrath?

If anybody was excited that Science Fiction Weekly is aiming to "revive" Daily Science Fiction, you should know they are straight-up lying about having gotten permission from writers to republish DSF stories on their website. (Yes, I have sent a DCMA takedown notice.)

As soon as I saw the original, I was pretty positive that this was the case. (Although the incompetence of these people cannot be underestimated)

Alright I've teased you enough you all! Here's the book cover I've done for @tgnewman.bsky.social ! It was such a fun challenge, and I hope you all like it as much as we do!!
So, folks know about the Japanese-Italian sausage demon, right? The pepper oni. 👹
The cultural shift in western media to only cover what things *look like* instead of what things *are* is a direct result of the passionate desire among uneducated, scared people to have an authoritarian tell them how to be. The result is authoritarianism. Wow. Big shocker.
