Its quite hard to know what, exactly, will actually lose someone their licence if 59 points, driving while disqualified and no insurance doesn't. Its not juat dangerous - its clear contempt for the law. We should treat car crime like any other crime

"I'm getting fed up with getting pulled by you guys, so this one will result in a complaint," says the driver with 59 points on his licence. 59 points, and still driving, and he didn't go to prison. The system is broken. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Samsung just announced an all time quarterly profit (quarterly!) of $62 *billion* and here they are gating access to emergency services. This is properly dystopian.

Screenshot from the Samsung SmartThings app headed “In an emergency, request help through the Safe button.” Supporting text explains that users can share their location by sending a help request to members, while a highlighted sentence says Premium users can access emergency dispatch services more quickly and easily.

I've been doing some research into locations in Prague using Google Maps, and either the guy who was tasked to take the photos got the camera position wrong, or there's a small hairy ghost haunting large swathes of the city.

And another cracking match in the Hundred. Didn't give the Southern Brave a prayer at the half way mark but absolutely superb in the field.

The State of the Present: Andy Burnham’s new government

In common with lots of other policy people in recent weeks, I’ve been reading Head North, the (very readable) book by new Prime Minister…

The BBC have lucked out with broadcasting the Trent Rockets and London Spirit Hundred match this afternoon which was an absolutely brilliant game of cricket.

The anti-net zero corrupt crusade would love nothing more than a power outage. It's their dream. Because then all our fears could be unleashed. Meanwhile, the forests and grasslands would still burn all around us.

ICYMI a long read on how digital is missing from Burnham's vision for how to govern. I would be very comfortable if his first flip flop came by revisiting the decision to send digital to the margins. It's a bad call and it seems to be the consensus view among people who know about this stuff.

By popular* demand I have added my many words to all the other bits and pieces reflecting on the end of DSIT. *@semanthicc.bsky.social and one other said they were waiting to hear my take.
