I'm finally watching #GameOfThrones, long after reading the books. The showrunners seem to use leaders watching violent blood sports on namedays as shorthand for self-centered, out-of-touch autocrats, and I can't disagree. Apropos of nothing at all going on at the White House today.

Several people have asked me recently why Analog/Asimov's/F&SF/Ellery Queen/Alfred Hitchcock still don't have Submission Grinder listings again, because the communications from SFWA on the subject have been so positive. So I thought it might be worth addressing this briefly.

I'm somehow always surprised to see a heron in a tree, but we just discovered a very small (2 nest rookery) near us. The babies look either (young) like faintly iridescent dragons or (older) like grumpy vultures.

Well, I'm in favor of the latest change in #SFWA's #Nebula rules, I'm concerned that the sudden change suggests a failed process the first time around. We want the rules to reflect community input and avoid knee-jerk, reactionary changes.

I didn't read a lot of #TomStoppard, but I did read Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead in high school, and it was incredibly funny. I went back to it several times (and much later saw the film) and always loved it. www.theguardian.com/stage/2025/n...
