BREAKING: A Boeing 767 ICE charter operated by Eastern Airlines has just landed in Eswatini. This is very likely the fifth third-country removal to Eswatini, the first via a large jet. The previous largest group was 11. This one could be much, much bigger.

Since January 1st, 2025, there have been at least 43-44K people arrested by local / state police and detained by ICE as a result of the 287(g) program. Of those: - 430 were people with violent criminal convictions - (at least) 246 were kids 18 or under Sink 287(g).

To be clear, this is a HOLD ROOM, not a detention facility. Temporary rooms in a random office building behind a Publix. 196 people stuffed into a few bare concrete cells. 26 Federal Plaza peaked at 180. Baltimore peaked at 183.

In 11th Cir many ICE is detaining are entitled to bond hearings. Requests for custody redeterminations are filed in the court w/jurisdiction over facility of confinement. EOIR has taken the position that there is no court w/ jx over the Miramar field office, so motions for bond are denied.

Back in January, DHS posted a vague RFI for a 287(g) Program - Outreach and Implementation Program Management contract. In the RFI questionnaire, interested vendors were asked if they "have a mechanism to provide liability protection to participating officers".
