ACE OF WANDS (1970): a beautiful title sequence for this children's classic about Tarot, a crime-fighting stage magician (eat your heart out, Paul Daniels). The theme song was by Status Quo member Andy Bown, and it reached no. 15 in the UK vinyl singles chart - in 2024! Better late than never.

This year is the 30th anniversary of my production INDEPENDENCE DAY UK on BBC Radio 1. With the success of our DC and Marvel “Audio Movies”, 20th Century Fox asked if I’d make a “British version of the upcoming Roland Emmerich & Dean Devlin movie”, and R1 Controller Matthew Bannister was up for it.

The Big Finish team were deeply saddened and shocked to learn of the passing of our friend and colleague, Justin Richards, who died peacefully at the weekend. Our sincere condolences go out to his family and friends. A full tribute will follow.

Here’s the thing about Tony. He turned up in the NEVERWHERE studio the day before he was booked to be in. He didn’t have to do that but he wanted to get an idea of how the production sounded in studio and how the team worked. A total pro and a lovely human being.
