It took everything within me to get to work this afternoon to teach one class. I had to go off my hrt and after nearly a year of surgical menopause, my body really said, “let’s have a period!!” Y’all, I don’t know how I survived these before. I am in so much pain.

The last thing I want to do right now is drink more electrolytes but my POTS has been so unregulated the past few days and I did too much over the weekend. No good pickles or olives in my fridge either. 😖😭

Had a convo with a grad student today and I asked if he read fiction. He said no. I’ve seen some of this kind of snobbery among a lit of my grad students and I honestly find it dumbfounding. 1) It will help you become a better academic writer and 2) where’s your fucking whimsy??

Still really mad that my uni’s English dept (my dept shares building) is still running a course on HP that includes study abroad. It’s been going for more than 15 years and every time I see their posters I want to deface them.* *for legal reasons, it’s a joke. Probably.

I know I’ve been a bit mia over here lately, but I wanted to say ilysm to my pirate crew! Ended up with a nasty cold for the holiday weekend, but I’m back and ready to dig into some new (to me) fics. What are y’all enjoying?

Big news in North Carolina: 1 of the 3 GOP Supreme Court justices up in 2028 won’t run again, easing the path for a Democratic majority. If Dem Justice Anita Earls wins this year, Dems would only need 2 flips in 2028 to gain a 4-3 majority. They could then strike down the GOP’s gerrymanders again

The son of Senate leader Phil Berger, he helped Republicans retake the majority on the state Supreme Court.

Changed my IBR payment for my student loans today. Still pissed that the SAVE act got cancelled and all the months I thought I was contributing to Public Service Loan Forgiveness don’t count. I should only have two years left, now it’s five. 😠
