I always think about how I’d be so fired or so thrown in jail if I did even one of the illegal and immoral things our president and other politicians do. We all would. People have been thrown in jail or deported for far less. Rich and guilty go free while many of the poor and innocent suffer.
Love that my podcasts just crossed streams. @baptistnews.com’s Church and State with @rickpidcock.bsky.social mentioned @prophiphop.bsky.social on the latest episode, who guest hosts on some of my favorite Behind the Bastards episodes with @iwriteok.bsky.social. Things just got a little better.
Without naming your job, tell me something you say over and over again at work. “That’s not how any of this works.”
Without naming your job, tell me something you say over and over again at work. "The answer is never No, but it may take a whole lot of work to get to Yes."
A prayer I prayed this morning, if anyone would like to join me and is similarly struggling to find words. ⚓
"But I know that Justice is Indivisible. Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly." - The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
There have been so many last straws that it’s laughable. Americans, of which I am one, have learned nothing from any of written history, theology, or philosophy. It’s a constant stream of “but we’re better than that.” No, we aren’t. American exceptionalism is a wildly addictive drug.
But there never seems to be a "last straw" for America's politicians. His own party is thrall to him. The so-called opposition approved his Cabinet members. The media, universities and lawyers comply. June 6 2021 ought to have been the last straw- but his rioting minions got pardoned
When we start with, “How would Christ have me treat my neighbor?” political tribes lose their power over us. Jesus gets our ultimate allegiance, and that changes how we see everything else. @malcolmfoley on 🎙️The Esau McCaulley Podcast
Rough vibes on this website today, likely because people feel Hopeless and Helpless Because Can't Stop It and No One Who Is Supposed To Is Trying To So Now We're Fighting Each Other™. I recommend activities such as book, or potentially instrument if you like instrument, or even do talk on phone.
Some new pics of Mars from ESA's Mars Express have been processed by @andrealuck.bsky.social, including this one showing its moon Phobos hanging in space over the planet surface. It's absurdly sci-fi looking, so I added a Star Destroyer and 80s starfield.
Every now and then you get a funny one. Today is that day.
People have inherent worth and dignity. Computer programs — even ones that are very good at imitating people — do not. Hope this helps.
I was honored to preach at @candlertheology.bsky.social's chapel last week. My sermon was "Render Unto Caesar: Preaching the Gospel in an Era of Christian Power." There may have been some subtext. Watch here: www.youtube.com/embed/Xdk3k3... Read here: matthewdtaylor.substack.com/p/render-unt...

Excited to read Better Ways to Read the Bible by @zachwlambert.bsky.social. Can’t wait for it to get here! If you can still preorder a copy, you should!
Just listened to @sheilagregoire.bsky.social on @sonsofpatriarchy.bsky.social and it was phenomenal! All well said and I look forward to hearing more in the future. Some of those stats were really eye opening. Guess it’s time to buy some more books. I’m going to need a proper library soon.
Does it bother anyone else that the “all lives matter” people are also the “kill them all and let God sort them out” people? I’m exhausted from convincing the people near me that genocide is a bad thing, regardless of who is carrying it out. (I’ll let you decide which genocide I’m taking about.)

Made s’mores with the kids using the toaster oven. Because it’s too dang hot outside to make them outside over a fire. Best part? The kids loved it. 10/10 recommend. Make sure to not put the graham cracker in the toaster oven, they get soft.
Literally begging you to post about Just Some Stuff. We will see the news I absolutely promise. Twenty people will repost the same exact thing about the news. Only you can post about a turtle you saw
One of the oldest forms of religious hypocrisy is people using God to justify the kind of actions against others that they themselves would cry out to God in agony if those same actions were carried out against them.
“War does not solve problems; on the contrary, it amplifies them and inflicts deep wounds on the history of peoples, which take generations to heal. No armed victory can compensate for the pain of mothers, the fear of children, or stolen futures.” Pope Leo XIV www.vatican.va/content/leo-...
Worth remembering that Trump moved the US Embassy to Jerusalem. To his evangelical base, he's fulfilling end times prophecies before their eyes. What is happening right now is nothing less then God's work, and they believe that they are the recipients of the long-awaited promise of Jesus' return.
Jon Stewart asks: How many gun deaths is too many for the GOP?
One of them is literally LAUGHING about Israeli drones killing Iranians. There is nothing funny about death and war, whatever the justness of any particular cause.
