Preprint alert: We find that without DARPP-32 in the motor cortex, mice show impaired skill learning and, most strikingly, fail to form robust motor memories. Given DARPP-32’s enrichment in corticothalamic neurons, our findings reveal a causal role for the corticothalamic pathway in motor learning.
