im once again drawn to the idea of becoming vs making in relation to ai so many want to "be" an artist, music producer, programmer, etc. but dont want to "do" them. being is action. ai promises being without action, which is inherently meaningless

Mel Andrews@bayesianboy.bsky.social · 2mo agoWhen utilized in literature review, LLMs consistently 1. fail to mention female authors in female-led literatures, 2. insist that men are more influential or more heavily cited when this is contradicted by objective citation counts, and 3. attribute women’s work to hallucinated male scholars.
All uses of AI are costing someone… this sucks as the Game UI database is such a valuable resource.

the challenge of art in the age of fascism is, to me, that escapism just feels like complicity. some people might disagree, but that's how i feel. on the other hand, it feels really important to provide some sort of new horizon or alternate vision of the future and not just comment on the present.
