The Trans Rights Readathon is right around the corner. We've got some exciting new plans this year, and we're compiling some resources for indie authors. Many of them are still in the works and will be announced publicly throughout March. 🤍💗💙 #TRR26 #transrightsreadathon #indieauthors

I really appreciated this analysis of Elliot Page's role in The Odyssey
“Sinon’s name is always on Odysseus’ lips.” Sinon doesn't even appear in The Odyssey. Why then does Christopher Nolan not only add him to the story, but make him central to the guilt and growth of Odysseus? reactormag.com/actually-chr...

After giving it some thought, I figure there's never going to be a perfect time to open for horror/Weird fic collection submissions. Why not now while my job is still in a slow period? If you're BIPOC and/or queer, I'm especially interested in reading your work: cursedmorsels.com/submission-c...

This looks like an awesome resource for finding comps! They really stressed me out when I first started my novel, but I feel more confident about them these days. Still, this makes it so much easier!
WHERE DO I FIND COMP TITLES? Goodreads, Publisher's Marketplace, Book lists ("best x books of 2025"), your local bookstore or library There's also this amazing resource by my fellow RevPit editor Allison Alexander, where you can look up comp titles by genre: 4/4🧵 www.aealexander.com/comp-finder-...
I've rewritten three chapters this week- they are super first drafty but I am glad there is something on paper. It is one section of my novel that I have not figured out yet! I hope to edit them next week. #writingupdate #amwriting #yafantasy #writesky
Congratulations J.K. Rowling, you've achieved an Israel-worthy milestone; silencing a perfectly valid criticism, because you can't stand it when someone rightfully calls you out for being a shitty human.
The fact that J.K. Rowling successfully bullied Amnesty International into taking down a report that accurately called out her attack on trans people, especially trans women, is so repulsive and such a display of the power of her money, and her choice to put her vast fortune behind persecution.

I loved Sargassa by Sophie Burnham! A political intrigue novel from the perspectives of those resisting, it was tightly written and totally gripping! Also, there is a third gender, and everyone is queer. Awesome. Can't wait to start the second. #alternativehistory #sargassa #booksky
"While Australians die in poorly cooled homes, the federal government spends $14.5 billion every year subsidising coal, oil and gas companies.... "By 2025-26, total fossil fuel subsidies had climbed to $16.3 billion, growing faster than funding for the National Disability Insurance Scheme."

"So much of writing is fun. It's first letting your interests and your imagination take you anywhere at all. Once you're able to do that, you'll have more ideas than you can use. Then the real work of fashioning them into a story begins. Stay with it. Persist." Octavia E. Butler (Bloodchild p. 142)
Check out my ARC review of Hunt the Ever Wild, which explores the dynamics of poverty and wealth through quest for a phoenix-and a chance to be free- in a fantastic and dangerous forest. A dark, luscious fantasy that reminded me of Nettle and Bone (but less cozy). #booksky #fantasy bit.ly/4fyriem

good practical reflection for artists who feel like whatever theyre making just isnt working is the sit down and VERY HONESTLY ask yourself: what is the gift here? it can be a lot of things. what am i giving to myself? to the world? what feeling? what expression? art that resonates is art that GIVES
I truly believe that the baby steps add up mentally for us as individuals too. I honestly cannot believe how much I have cancelled in the last five years just from doing a bit at a time and aligning other life changes toward it
None of us can cancel everything. But all of us can cancel SOMETHING. One eminently practical suggestion: Does your family have more than one Amazon Prime account? You absolutely don't need more than one! Cancel one of those tonight!
A Study in Drowning by Ava Reid was meticulous crafted. The main character was both strikingly confident in who she was and what she knows about the world, while also self-doubting herself and never been sure of what was real-which made for great tension. What a gripping read! #yafantasy #booksky

I was lucky enough to be an ARC reader for Gods of Atalantis by Emily Klotz and I loved it! The world was beautiful, the complex characters had great chemistry, and I was hooked onto the plot. It was truly a pleasureable reading experience! @professoremily.bsky.social @hookandquillpress.com

Yesterday I finished the second draft of a strange short story that's been in rhe back of my head for a while. I love how it's coming together, but this week it's back to my novel #writingupdates #writingcommunity
