I yell at video games on the Internet. I enjoy drinking cocktails. These events often happen together. The cat is currently missing, and I'm missing him. http://twitch.tv/BretTheBreton

Happy birthday to actor and author Armin Shimerman, who guest starred 3 times on TNG before playing Quark on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. (He was in the Voyager series premiere too). He played Quark again on Lower Decks, and is breaking down episodes of DS9 on the Delta Flyers podcast.

I know the result from Washington state is deeply disappointing. But even in the darkness, there's still hope, as seen below. FWIW, opponents of the children's genital-inspection measure (which are words I can't believe I just typed) are vowing to block it in court, so still some hope even there.

in 50 or 100 years people are going to read about the trump years in history books, learn about the president who spent all his time obsessing over grandiose home renovation projects while offhandedly imposing crippling tariffs and starting the stupidest war ever and...just not believe the stupidity

On his birthday, remembering William Campbell, who played Trelane in "The Squire of Gothos" and Koloth in "The Trouble With Tribbles" on the original Star Trek. He revisited Koloth almost 30 years later, playing him in the Deep Space Nine episode "Blood Oath."

This isn't mentioned enough... I've long suspected that this is the endgame.* *With a "small recurring monthly fee, in several tiers to fit any budget!"

people have joked the AI CEOs don’t want you to own a computer because they’ve made them so expensive. but it’s still wild to hear sam altman just come out and say it. it’s pretty obvious why: he wants people to be stuck using chatgpt instead of running a smaller, more targeted model locally.

I wish I really were a Traveler of all of space and time.

It’s only been like ten minutes since I found out, just before it hit the press, so I’m staggered and doing my best to process everything, while my phone is blowing up. There will be wonderful obituaries and reflections from so many people who knew him. I’m going to do...
