Aside from the knock to the ever-dwindling music journalism ecosystem, I just think about what this all means for smaller and mid-tier bands. If you're not already huge, who is going to cover your album? Who is going to post about your tour? Who is going to…

“Music publications BrooklynVegan, Alternative Press, Revolver, and Goldmine have been gutted by parent company Veeps... Nearly all the staff at each publication appear to have been laid off yesterday. Veeps, which is now owned by Live Nation, acquired the publications in 2024 or 2025”

This is actually quite smart of AOC.A lot of the MAHA adherents have been let down by a medical establishment that dismisses women’s concerns at every stage-birthing to menopause(which they only recently started studying). They should have somewhere to turn for non crazy solutions to real problems.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez@ocasio-cortez.house.gov · 2d ago

There is pervasive corruption across our healthcare and agricultural systems that defy party lines. I meet with MAHA activists because a lot of their concerns are bipartisan issues that major corporations paint as partisan. The fight isn't left and right, it's top and bottom.

Legit cried at the end of Olivia Laing’s THE LONELY CITY and more than one Barry Lopez essay. Also Marilynne Robinson's HOUSEKEEPING gave me an intense combo of vertigo and psychic jet lag that lasted for like a week (complimentary.)

do you ever have strong, palpable, emotional responses to books while reading? i'll chuckle occasionally, and sometimes a suspenseful passage will have my heart racing a bit, but for example i can't say i've ever teared up or cried while reading a book

"I know, readers, that many of you have given up on the [Washington] Post. Understandably so. But I haven’t." I agree with her. margaretsullivan.substack.com/p/fare-thee-... "There is a bone-deep culture at the Post that goes back more than 50 years." "Bone-deep" means hard to kill. We need that.

Fare thee well, Adam O'Neal

At the command of Jeff Bezos, he wrecked the Washington Post opinion section but at least he's out

Is anyone still left on the Mets at this point because, oh hang on I'm getting a text, uhhhh, it appears that I am now on the Mets by default, gotta go down to Dick's and buy some cleats in time for tomorrow's game

Extreme weather is complicated (there are over 150 definitions of drought in the literature!), the Earth system is complex, models are imperfect, and we still have much to learn. But it's remarkable how spot-on most of our predictions have been: drawdown.org/insights/is-...

Is climate change unfolding faster and fiercer than scientists expected?

Climate change is undeniably here, and it’s bad. But is it, as some are claiming, worse than even the scientists expected?

Not incidentally, sex ed and social media, two of the big things the Think of the Children crowd want to restrict children's access to, are the first place a lot of kids encounter the concept that a person with nominal authority over you doesn't get to touch you without permission

Can't think of a thing that will radicalize a generation faster than "you've gotta let that old man in the corner over there see what's inside those pants before you play Kindergarten volleyball."
