Another thing about fraternities is that the hazing rituals where slightly older young men would physically, mentally emotionally and sometimes even sexually abuse slightly younger young men have always disturbed and upset me greatly. And it’s really telling that I’ve seen men defend those too
But you know, once again, let’s just blame women for rape culture, right? Just because you think they’re cringe?
It’s also just so dumb (in addition to insensitive) to relate TLH to real sexual assault in academic institutions because I *guarantee* the rapists and the rape apologists are not and would not touch that kind of rom-com with a 10 foot pole; it is not any sort of factor in rape culture
Clutching your pearls over a fictional dynamic does not contribute anything to the conversation and if anything distracts from the topic of ACCOUNTABILITY.
I find it gross that a real life crime happened and people are using it to argue about romance novels rather than looking at the ACTUAL problem of what's wrong with MEN?!?!?

the thing that normalizes abusive dynamics in academia is the failure on the part of colleges to take action against abusers (ask me how I know), not rom-com writers who, if anything, may create narratives that are healing to survivors
I don't think there is a high on earth that will ever be as good as watching the TLJ preview as a TFA Reylo for the first time

I also think people are making a lot of assumptions that because they're casting a girl and boy that makes them a new Dyad. I don't necessarily think that's the case since a Dyad is suppose to be something pretty rare, unless of course they're "retconning" that with the reasoning...

i worry that men think being A Good Guy is dramatically and heroically intervening on behalf of an endangered woman and then being publicly rewarded on a grand scale when actually being A Good Guy is just usually saying, “hey man that’s not funny” or “wow that’s fucked up” and there is no reward
Unfortunately, she's doubling down on her talent being sacrificed to the golden calf of AI. I get the want for more 2d animation, but this is not the way to do it. It only hurts more artists in the long run.

I remember a really frustrating conversation with a generally decent cishet white guy about a news story where a woman was roofied. he went off about wishing he could beat that guy up to avenge her, and I was like "how about start with calling out your friends' sexist tweets?" and he was like 😳
