I don’t want to do a Blue Jays post-mortem, but here’s reason for optimism. Last year, they became known as a premier pitching development org. And much of the depth they built will be at AAA or AA next season. /1

30 years ago today, Vladimir Guerrero made his MLB debut with the Montreal Expos. Batting sixth and playing right field, he went 1-for-5 in the Expos' 5-1 win over the Braves. His first MLB hit was a single off Steve Avery in the top of the fourth inning.

In the oral histories of the Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee and Seneca, there was a race of serpent-dragons that lived within Lake Ontario. The Seneca described the creatures like Gaasyendietha as a giant snake that could breathe fire and fly like a bird. 🎨 Ayia Napa 🧵 2/6

A giant sea serpent with a coiled body and toothy mouth rises from turbulent waves beside a wrecked sailing ship while terrified sailors flounder in the surf, one reaching toward a rocky shore.

If it weren't for Doug Ford I think people would more correctly process that the push for expanding Billy Bishop started *inside the Toronto Port Authority*, and earlier this year they begged him to shut up. It's not like the current management of Canadian airports is innocent and pure.

Happy 69th Birthday to Expos legend Tim Wallach! All-Time Expos Ranks (not counting Washington Nationals players): - 1,767 games (1st) - 6,529 at bats (1st) - 1,694 hits (1st) - 2,728 total bases (1st) - 360 doubles (1st) - 905 RBIs (1st) - 11.9 dWAR (2nd) - 204 HRs (4th

After the Jays honour a former catcher/manager, I’ll be at Indigo in the Eaton Centre honouring another former Toronto backstop/skipper from 5-8 pm tomorrow with copies of my latest book. Maybe Buck will drop by and pick one up.

57 years ago today, right-hander Claude Raymond (St. Jean, Que.) became the first Quebec-born player with the Montreal Expos when they acquired him from the Atlanta Braves. He would pitch a scoreless inning against the San Diego Padres that day in a 5-4 Expos' loss at Jarry Park

28 years ago today, Vladimir Guerrero and brother, Wilton, homered for the Montreal Expos in their 6-4 loss to the Cincinnati Reds at Cinergy Field. It was the first of four times the brothers would homer in the same game for the Expos.
