No retreat, no surrender, die with their blood in your teeth. She/her.

personally I think we should just take the ai doomers at their word and shut it down if they’re telling the truth, well, good thing we shut it down. If they’re exaggerating, well, they shouldn’t have done that

Astrophotographer Adam (AJ) Smadi caught this image a few hours ago from Washington state. A thin crescent Moon, sunlight illuminating the rugged lunar surface. And 2,400 times farther away—and on the other side of the Sun—mighty Jupiter, and its moons Io (left) and Ganymede (right).

A crescent Moon seen during the day, arcing from upper left to lower right of the frame. At lower centre is the full disk of Jupiter; the small dots to its upper left and lower right and Io and Ganymede, respectively.

this is morally equivalent to something like: if Google were reading the gmail account of a famous mathematician, realized he was about to publish a breakthrough paper, and then attempted to scoop him on his breakthroughs (with a side of blackmail)

Millennium math problem solved by OpenAI may have "regurgitated" competitors unpublished work... also they spent more than $22 million in computing power in one week to scoop them. techcrunch.com/2026/09/08/o...

Hello, I was hoping to avoid doing this, but I am asking for help paying for my hernia surgery. I need about $6800 to cover it and I simply do not have the money to cover it. If you're able, I would appreciate your help. <3 gofund.me/db73f7f90

Speaking from experience: running a small business can be absolutely soul-crushing. And half the time, your problems are ones the world is imposing on you that you had no part in creating. If you can, please give Maya a hand. This tariff bullshit is awful.

The South's paranoia and mania around this rested, in some ways, on the recognition of a real dynamic: that their slave system depended on the North not just accepting it below the Mason Dixon, but essentially legalizing it everywhere. Policy concessions weren't enough: they needed total submission

Better Things Are Possible@internethippo.bsky.social · 2d ago

Antebellum politics is fascinating, the South kept getting policy concessions and whipped themselves up into a paranoid rage anyway, essentially because they couldn't stand being culturally judged for having slaves

MAHA has been in power for two years. They have decimated basic science, gutted food safety surveillance and kicked millions of people off food stamps. *That* is their ideology, not their polite platitudes about corporate control of the food supply.

A thread devoted to Jacob Lawrence, one of most acclaimed American painters of the 20th century, born #OnThisDay in 1917. Fitting that today is Labor Day since work & labor were among his most enduring themes. First up: Home Chores, 1945, painted soon after he returned from military service in WWII

Painting of a Black woman in house dress, apron, & slippers, washing dishes at a sink

kill the MAHA in your head, a non-exhaustive list: -stop using the word "chemicals" in a derogatory way. When criticizing specific types of chemicals, be specific. -stop saying "clean eating" for whatever diet you're on. food you're avoiding isn't dirty or bad just because you are avoiding it.
