Imagine playing football and the whole pitch is made up of thousands of Chamomile plants. Well, that is an actual scenario at Polgigga, Cornwall. No grass, just a stunning quantity of Chamomile plants making up the greenery of the pitch. #wildflowerhour Chamaemelum nobile

Some other favourite #seedheads 😍 A branch of Sea Lavender with a single bloom amongst the seedheads The long, splayed seedpods of Birds-foot Trefoil - these were huge! The gorgeous orb of a scabious seedhead Lighting up the heath - the flamboyant orange beacon of Bog Asphodel. #wildflowerhour

Lovely to see some fabulous stands of Dwarf Stonewort (Nitella tenuissima) amongst other Charophytes and Utricularia minor and U. intermedia agg in old peat cuttings in the Burren today (some pools with 6 Charophyte species in!)

🌱 A good news story from Norfolk. A decade ago, this was intensively farmed arable land. Today, 1,200 acres are alive with wildflowers, birds and insects – including species not seen locally for 15 years. Sometimes, give nature a chance and it comes roaring back. 🦋
